535i is N55
Those engines are fairly bulletproof, only "common" issue is high pressure fuel pump, which isn't all that common (not nearly as much as N54). It's probably the most 'proven-reliabilty' engines the F10 has to offer (behind the N52, but that's 2010-2011 528i only I believe).

Consider the 2014 if you plan on getting a tune. It has the EWG. Otherwise N55 as mentioned is very solid motor. I've thrown tons of stress on mine and it laughs in my face.

was your differential oil dirty when you flushed it? is an alignment at this age necessary? my car tracks really nicely as of right now. |

Iv'e had mine since May and that was the last time it's been at the dealer. Had 34k miles when I bought it and it has 39k now. No issues to speak of other than that slight drone sound that begins at around 60 mph and goes away at 70 mph. I don't think it's a wheel/tire issue since I can't feel it at all and it is so faint that you can only hear it with windows up and radio off.
Love this car and hope it lasts a long time! |

The F10 535 is about as bulletproof as you can get, and there's certainly nothing wrong with a '13. Only warranty claim I've made in last 8mos. was to replace the HVAC/stereo control unit b/c a few of the backlit buttons were no longer illuminating. It's a good car.
'13's the last model where the chrome fender blandishments served a purpose. I also prefer the smaller iDrive controller over the LCI.

I just do an occasional (every 12-24 months or so) alignment as a precaution. No issues, car tracked true but I had some odd wear on the front tires and as I was getting new tires I wanted to be sure nothing was wrong. |

if the car was well maintained and the service records don't show recurring or other concerns, go for it.
I would recommend you have the Istep level updated to latest. Take advantage of "improvements" incorporated into the car ECU's. plus your Nav will get the latest firmware and Bluetooth updates to help minimize connectivity issues.

Yup... Fronts more outside wear. IIRC the rears had wear indicative of low pressure even though the pressure was correct (I check often). When I got the car it had a drift to the right that was corrected after an alignment. As my new alignment was pretty much the same as the old.

rear tire inside wear (negative camber) if you are an aggressive driver, this camber wear will show more due to the tire contacting the road most in this spot. i believe this is normal. lots of vehicles with a sport oriented chassis/suspension setup follow this. |
