Latest Campaign

I got a letter in the mail today saying there is an open campaign for my 2011 550i. I called the dealer and they said it is an ECU update. Knowing that this update will make my versions of E-SYS and ISTA/D not work, I want to know if it is worth going in for this flash or not.

Does anybody have details on this campaign?

I'm pretty sure this is just the update related to oil consumption/interval algorithm. I had the update done in January, my E-SYS worked just fine after i picked the car up.

What is your oil change interval now? I believe mine is every 12 months or 11,000 miles.

dealer does mine every 7,000 (N63)

but its related to how the car computes mileage, 1000 road miles does not equal 1000 miles off the interval counter from my experience

BMW always did the Oil service based on Time and milage.
Leave the car for a couple months and come back. you will see the counter down a couple thousand.

Yup...

I took advantage of a discounted oil service coupon at my local dealership a couple of weeks ago, and when I picked up my vehicle, I had the "pleasure" of discovering that they performed an open campaign (per SIB 12 45 15, Conversion for Oil Service) that updated my DME and wiped out my Dinan engine and suspension software as well.
