They sold a lot because they built exceptionally well balanced car.
Comfortable, spacious, great looking, luxurious cruiser with decent mileage and at the end of the day, still sporty ride for the size. Choosing options wisely goes a long way to get the best handling F10 possible. Not perfect, but pretty darn good, one of best looking and handling vehicles in it's class without doubt. |

Congrats to BMW! This was my first 'new BMW',...a 2012 F10 535i Sport Black Sapphire on Black! It's the best all-around 5-Series ever,...has plenty of style,...lots of giddy-up and go,...gets more than 32 mpg hwy (...yes it does),....very quite, and solid as a rock!

In my opinion,...and no one is asking! The F10 M5 is the best Super Car on the planet! Bar none! It's not a sports car,...or cabrio,...or a two seat kidney beater! It's an executive sleeper with LARGE BALLS!

It does handle really well in the wet though on a track. I'll give it that much. |

I think this video sums it up briefly. The car is constantly being improved. I drove a 520d a few weeks ago and it didn't feel too underpowered. The diesel sounds were muted in the cabin... Here is the video I found on the weekend:

But, I have to say that V10 exhaust note wins it for me. |

What I disagree with you on is the performance of the F10 M5. The V10 is nothing short of a good performance car but the F10 is doing much more and controlling it much better. Regardless of what RWD car you drive, the traction is always going to be an issue. That was a bad comparison lol |

To some extent I understand the issue you guys have with performance. I'd love to have more steering feel too and "sport" mode of DHP to be "default" across all F10 models, but you're forgetting this is very large sedan, wasn't exactly meant to be track car. E60 on the other hand was lacking space, especially in the back, and didn't look anywhere close as good as F10 (subjective I know - this is just my opinion).
What car today do you feel handles better than F10 in the same class? |

For me, I did love my E60s, still my favorite 5 series is still the E39. It still looks good to me to this day. The E60s, overall, had a unique look. The greatest thing about the Exx cars was that they did not look identical. Today it's hard to tell the difference between a 3/5/7 series, with the Exx cars the E90 did not look identical to the E60, and the E60 did not look identical to the E65. They were intentionally completely different looking cars.
That went away with the Fxx cars, which is kind of sad. LOL, I know I must sound like I am knocking the F10, I am not. It suits my current needs well, I do like the comfort, space, and tech. However, I do miss some of the things that made the E60 and previous gens special when compared to comparable cars in their segments. |

While the F10 is much more luxurious on the inside (and looks better on the outside), I just couldn't get over how different they drive, and how much more anesthetized the F car feels. Stupid or inspired, time will tell I guess.

No, a 535xi as a DC and family runabout.
I already have an M3 for hardcore thrills, and I've had the E90 M3 with the high revving V8 before that. I've experienced both sides of the power/torque argument as it were. The E60 M5 scares me a bit reliability wise.

The E60 5 series is cool but, the F10 is exponentially much better. Just my opinion.
