Fuel consumption and foggy windshield

Hey guys,

Bought late 2010 520D estate, with 60.000 Km on the clock and everything is fine except two things.
I have a feeling that the fuel consumption should be a bit lower. I have only 566 Km on the computer since I bought a full tank, which is about 12 litres/100Km (36 mpg). And when I look at few reviews of this car or official data, it's always between 5-8 litres / 100km (cca 65 mpg).
I hope that it's not something serious.

And my second problem is foggy windshield.
Sometimes the windshield is very foggy and takes about 5-7 mins to clean it with the fan on full blast. I didn't have this problem with my previous car (Mercedes 180C coupe). It is a bit annoying.

Thanks for any help.
cheers

Fuel consumption should be Much lower! I've got 530d and it consumption is about 9 litres/100km, although don't ride as a fragile and often stand in traffic jams.
One of my friends got 520d/MT and about 6 litres.
Foggy windshield often associated with clogged filter, check it at first.

Do you have the aircon on, car clears a lot quicker if it's on as the aircon strips the moisture out of the incoming air

In terms of fuel consumption, what is your daily driving routine? If mainly city based your consumption seems ok. I have a 530d and use it for inner city commuting, I get 27 mpg and do drive the car pretty hard.

You haven't come back to say if you are using the Full auto climate control, A/C function on.

If you are, is the system capable of cooling, or could it have a fault? Other users have had condenser issues.

well, yesterday i was on a road trip and fuel consumption on 300km road was
6.1l/100km... i will report local consumption in inner city circle

no fogging, but i had that issue on e87 after windshield replacement... could be cabin filter related, have you tried to replace it !?
