Does it come with the ambient lightning from premium package alone?
Or it comes with convenience package together with premium package?
I've seen posts said that with premium package alone the ambient light is only in interior part, but with convenience package it extends to exterior door nubs

In Europe we do not have those packages, but I can confirm that in the EU at least, the option ambient lighting automatically adds exterior door handle illumination, as well as the chrome strips on the door handles.

Well, if it's part of the ambient lighting package, then it should come standard in the U.S. on the 535i and 550i since that package is standard on those vehicles. I don't think the ambient lighting package is standard on the U.S. 528i.

Would you happen to know if one can purchase the chrome strips for the door handles?...I am not interested in the ambient lighting, but like the look of the chrome strips....I am hoping they are sold or can be swapped out, provided cost is not prohibitive.

I have never seen a 2011 F10 5 series without the chrome door handle accents- I'd rather not have it as I think it looks cheap- I like full body color only. Is this possible to acheive?

I have seen the 5 series without the chrome handles--in fact, yesterday in a dealer parking lot which is what prompted my question....in my particular case in which I have ordered a darker color (Carbon Black), the chrome matches up well with the M-sport wheels.....I am hoping my car comes with these handles; if not, I am hoping I will be able to buy these as an accessory without all the ambient lighting, etc.

To clarify:

If the car has ambient lighting (i.e. all F10/11s as standard on all engines except 520d) then it has the chrome door strips and the light integrated into the handle

If the car doesn't have ambient lighting (i.e. only the 520d unless it;s been added as an extra) then it won't have the chrome strips

I think if it really bothered you, you could have the lit/chomed handles replaced with the standard ones, as long as comfort access isn't specified as I believe they only make comfort access handles with the chrome strips.

Personally I would prefer without the chrome strips, particularly whith shadowline, but I can put up with it for the *glory* of ambient lighting!

In germany the ambient lighting is standard only for the 550i!
On all other it is an option (280,00 €).
