So does this REPLACE the Stage 1? From the little detail I can see of the connectors in your photo, it looks like that may be the case.

i got the whole new unit as if i never had stage 1... others will have to connect a few wires on to stage 1 to make it stage 2. I got mine installed and the car pulls hard! i was amazed which is hard since i ran my car on race map stage 1.... that being said i will be racing stage 1 car that's on race has to see how i compare.

There is a new (bigger) black control box that you will receive and swap in and mail the old smaller black box back to BMS. Also, there are 8 new wires that you add into the harness, 4 male ended and 4 female ended. The 4 females end replace 4 wires in the ecu (that are in 2 different connectors to the ecu), and the 4 mail end wires get the 4 oem female wires that you remove plugged into them. That's it.... And of course disconnect your battery first.

It takes about 10 minutes longer than the basic stage 1 install. Also note the stage 1 plugs that connect to the 2 TMAP sensors are still used, the only thing stage 2 changes is the new control box and the new wires you add.

Once the public release is out, there will be a guide published for how you install the wires... it's incredibly easy... and the video for installing the wires into the ECU is already posted on N54tech...

That video you posted sounds awesome. I think i saw you or the other 550i with NYC Plates at MIR in november with my supra.

I have the black 335, black wheels, i've been to englishtown a bunch last summer but didn't see you around.

Anyways, how is the car runing? Would love to see a JB4 log.I'm interested in eventually selling my 335 for a 550i. pros/cons of the car? I will PM you as well.

THanks,

Brett

I have owned 2 N63's (F02 and current F10) and one N63TU (650i GC, didn't like the car). This 2013 550i combined with Terry's stage 2 is by far the most fun I've had in a BMW. The acceleration feels unlimited and smooth all the way to redline.

I can't wait to dyno this thing to find out real gains, but the fun factor went through the roof. I can barely keep traction in 1st or 2nd with moderate acceleration. Haven't really had a chance to give it a proper go - but the claim of 440+ RWHP does not seem out of proportion. I think I remember the HP number correctly, forgive me if not.

If you're running stage1 (my old F02 was used to help develop it) I highly recommend you harass Terry for stage 2. I remember when I got my old 750Li back from BMW with the stage1 installed, it was very impressive but I knew there had to be more power in the car. Stage 2 was what I was waiting for.

Just so you guys know, I am not paid to endorse BMW products, and I did pay for the tune (although I will not mention pricing in the forum).

Install is a bit different than the stage one because this version ties in with the ECU right under the hood toward the front right side of the car. You have to open the ECU box (just a few torx screws) and replace a few pins with ones from the tune harness. The pins you remove from the harness will clip into more pins coming out from the tune box. All in all installation should take no more than 30 minutes with very basic automotive skills. It's nothing compared to the original JB N54 tune, haha.

I will post dyno info as soon as I have it.
