coding question ?
Hi guys . I'm thinking of getting my car coded soon and just wondered what are the most popular / useful things to get done ?
I really want the hp/torque meter and would like to get the dash lights to stay white after dark instead of changing to orange if that's possible ? I can't really think of anything else to do as I don't have the comfort access , hud or sat nav options . Thanks in advance |

Here's a list of functions or features from which most of the coding I do is selected. This is not a complete list because the book is still being written! Some of these function require the hardware to be in the car; coding cannot change the function of hardware which is not present. Some, also, are already set in your car the way we have to change them to be in ours in NA.
- Add Paddle Shifter Functionality for retrofit Sport Paddles - Automatic High beam Assist Headlights (Car must have KAFAS camera which supports High Beam Assistant, Lane Departure Warning, and Speed Limit Information. Without this camera system installed, there is no KAFAS module) - Automatic Parking Brake Release (Some 2011-12 cars) - Auto Start-Stop function to start as last used - Auto Start-Stop OFF by default - Blind Spot Detection at lower speeds (17 mph min) - Change Nav voice from US to UK English (you wouldn't care for this one, would you?) - Disable iDrive legal disclaimer - Disable Night Vision camera legal disclaimer - Disable Rear and Side view camera legal disclaimer - Disable seat belt status display – driver and pax - Disable seat belt reminder – driver and pax - Disable sound on disconnect SB – driver and pax - Display digital speed in instrument cluster (bottom center in basic, bottom of Speedo in Extended and Multi-Function) - Enable DVD in motion - Enable Fog Lights with High Beams - Enable current position (GPS and Street Name) menu item (Navigation Display => options) - Enable HUD Entertainment and Telephone display - Enable HUD Turn Signals display - Enable key fob and driver side door handle to close the trunk (requires Convenient Access) - Enable key fob and driver side door handle to fold mirrors* and close windows and moon roof * To change mirror fold delay - Enable Pressure and Temperature Readings to the TPMS Screen - Enable Sports Display (Power* & Torque* Meters) in the Vehicle Info screen. (For N55 only. For N63 cars the gauges appear, but do not function) - Enable Sports Display menu when switching to sport driving mode - Enable video playback via USB Port and with various video formats - Halos full brightness even when headlights are on - Opening doors will not interrupt window roll up (Front and Back) - Rear view camera always available - Subtle orange lines at the bottom of Extended (6WA) or Multifunction (6WB) display during the day (2013 Default is grey) - Subtle grey lines at the bottom of Extended (6WA) or Multifunction (6WB) display during the night (2013 Default is orange) - Splash animation on the iDrive screen upon system load: Variant1 = M logo, Variant7 = White BMW logo, Variant8 = Brown bmw logo (same as HU_CIC), Variant9 = Merry Xmas

Question for the coders.
With dvdinmotion.com, you can burn a disk and reinstall to re-enable dvd in motion if it ever gets wiped out by the dealer. If I have my F10 coded to display tire temperature/pressure (or any other feature), can a similar disk be burned to re-enable or must the coder recode it evertime it gets wiped out? |

There are several companies and individuals who can code remotely. I'll PM you some ideas of forum members who do remote coding. Based on their contribution to the coding community, I'd ask them to code my car if I did not already do it myself.

I did that for Evolve. It can be done and the steps are well-documented. I'll send you a PM with some contact ideas for you to contact.

I did that coding for Evolve here in San Diego. The coding is well-documented and is straight-forward. The following may not mean much to a casual observer but to a guy with the coding setup it's all that's needed.
- Add Paddle Shifter Functionality for retrofit Sport Paddles FA (VO) Replace 205 with 2TB. Code new FA in ECUs ICM, EGS, GWS, and SZL After you have posted a few more times you will be able to send and receive Private Messages. When you get to that point, send a PM to me and I can give you some contacts who can code remotely.

Get in contact with member v12. His name is Richard and he's an awesome guy. He can code locally in NYC area or remotely. If you had any doubts prior to doing this, leave that at the door! Well worth it. PM me if you need his contact info

Windows 7-10 computer, ENET, and reliable wifi from vehicle. Remote coder logs into your computer and is equivalent to doing it in person. I have coded vehicles in 7 countries from my home office. |

Awesome. What's the workflow? I can do coding but have only done so much from the cheat sheet.
Also, anyway of disabling the brake lights on Auto Hold? |

You want it to look like you do not have foot on brake at stop so car is more likely to think you are moving and will hit you? |
