P3Cars Vent Gauges

Installed my P3 Vent gauge this weekend. These were released late last month. Install took about 30 minutes and its as easy as the install video. I purchased the gauge already installed into the vent, that way I can swap back to stock vent if and when I need to.

You'll need a T20 torx bit to remove the vent from the dash. Removing the vent out of the dash is the trickest part, but not difficult. Its plug and play into the OBD port with digital Boost, Vacuum, RPM, Speed, Coolant Temp, Throttle Position, Battery, Air inlet temp and EGT. Also has a 0-60 timer and other features.

I was looking for boost and like having a coolant temp guage. Affordable and works as advertised

I'm anxious to see exactly what kind of boost its now pushing with Dinan S3.

Looks good, but was hoping for an actual boost gauge rather than just obd2 parameter display.

It difficult to get a boost tap for an analog gauge on the 550. I recall someone posting about adding one, but it took some fabrication to get a tap.

Finally! Been inquiring about this since January, and they said it would be ready by summer.

Yes, the wiring is hidden. Remove the plastic panel on the side of the dash and all wiring and connections are out of sight. Here is a link to the install video.

I seem to remember 9.8 lbs stock for the 2011/12 F10. Sounds like the newer N63 (440hp) boost may have been increased.

Unfortunately I did not have a way to datalog before I had the flash done, but with Stage 2 it looks like it's closer to 14psi. Since there is no physical boost gauge with the P3 product, your gauge should be displaying the same info as the Bavarian Technic tool that I used here.

Try a 3rd gear pull at WOT from ~3k RPM to near redline and see what the gauge peaks out at.

Interesting. The article here seems to confirm 9.8 stock and 14psi with dinan, which is what I'm seeing.

I shot a quick email to Scott at Dinan, he stated the 550 should be seeing 13 lbs. I got a message from P3 about another S3 user that claims they have seen 16 lbs on their 550.

I know temps, elevation, etc all come into play to a certain degree but still seems like a wide range.

Agree. Did they happen to mention any differences between stages? My logs were done on stage 2 tune.

no but I didn't ask specifically either.

I'll keep experimenting to see what I get at different temps and humidity, not much I can do about elevation, i am basically at sea level.

Out of curiosity were you able to see more boost out of your p3? Especially when you went to stage 5?

I am seeing about 13.5lbs of boost. I had some concerns about the accurancy of the P3 digital guage on vacuum and boost readings, including it "locking up". I have installed 2 software upgrades from P3 and it seems to be accurate now. I have a analog boost tap to install and will compare the analog to digital readings soon

So based on your previous post, you were seeing 12.2 with S3 and 13.5 with S5? Or do you think those were simply measurement/accuracy differences?

Please keep us posted on the analog boost tap vs p3 vent gauge.

I have the P3 vent gauge and am Dinan Stage 3. My tune puts out a consistent 1 bar of boost (14.5 psi). Highest reading has been 14.9, but 95% of the time at WOT in 3rd, I will see 1 bar all day long.
