BMW 535i touchpad idrive controller retrofit?
Hey guys,
I know that bimmer-tech offers the idrive touch controller retrofit but i have a 2011 bmw 535i xdrive f10. They are saying i have to upgrade my system to the NBT system to use it? https://www.bimmer-tech.net/shop/bmw...oller-retrofit Also i wondering, would it be possible to buy the touch controller on ebay and just install it? i really dont care about the touch functionality, i like it since it looks better and also because its easier to use. I was wondering if i bought it on ebay and just installed it/plugged it in, would it let me atleast control the menus? Here is what i am thinking of getting: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Genuine-BMW...5/192586869856 |

I do have idrive, i just want to replace the wheel controller that controls the idrive system to the wider touchpad one, like this: https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw...er-65829350725
Currently i have this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/BMW-CIC-idr...-/253045660441 on my 2011 bmw 535i xdrive f10 for the CIC system |

my question is that if i get the touchpad idrive controller, will it work without coding if i install it (plug and play) since i just want it for scrolling/selecting the menus instead of the actual touch capability?

Don't quote me, but I believe they are the same physical size but the pin count is different. There is a thread somewhere (I don't remember where, try YouTube?) about someone trying this. I would imagine you would need to replace the CIC with the NBT.

The pins are different on the 2011's, I've tried this. If you like the bigger controller you can buy this and it'll give you that bigger look and feel and it's cheap.

Since we're on the topic. does anyone know where to find just the cap part of the rotary dial? I know it's removable but I can't find for the life of me just the cap part. Mine has worn out marks and I dont want to replace it with the cheap eBay one.
