Missing Traffic Info

My dad has a 2013 5er with Navigation. Until recently he received traffic info via the red/green/yellow lines. But that seems to no longer be working. The car has recently passed 4 years old, so I believe the Assist subscription will have expired.

So my question is, is an Assist/teleservice subscription required to receive any traffic information in his car? My 2011 M3 gets the traffic info triangles without any subscription. Is that not available in his 5?

My understanding is that to receive detailed traffic, yes you require Assist. Otherwise, any traffic you see is the FM traffic signal, which is pretty bad lol

The FM traffic info with the triangles has actually worked pretty well in my m3. But that is not showing up at all in my dad's car. Is that supposed to show up in the 5 when there is not RTTI?

you need to pay $99 a year for real time traffic updates. I found out in JAN after my subscription ran out on new years day.

May be it depends on the model year, mine expired after the 3rd year, and I paid $50 for real time traffic for 1 year on my LCI last Dec.

Ditto... $50 for RTTI and $50 for Connected Drive Services. I don't see a need for the Concierge Services...

to clarify, there is no RDS traffic info available for this model/nav system? Or you all just preferred the RTTI?
