$1293 over invoice for a 535xi (w/o nav credit applied)?!

Folks,

Placed an order last night but the dealer and I are still working through pricing as I made it clear that the GY LS2 issue is bothersome enough that I wanted to proactively address it. Looking at a 535xi Sport and he's trying to be pretty firm about $1293 over invoice (keeping it simple - this doesn't include any nav credit or team usa event credit yet)...

I thought $600-$800 over invoice was a fair offer for OH (only have 2 dealers near me, though).

I'd really like some opinions/thoughts on what I should feel comfortable with - I'm actually willing to forego the nav credit and order later if the sales manager is trying to take advantage of me here.

Any opinions? Is $500-$600 worth quibbling over (recognizing that I'm about to add $1149 for wheel/tire insurance that I didn't want to buy in the first place).

Thanks!
mm

Frankly I would. BMW Dealerships are typically good about offering a fair and equitable deal for both parties, but that does seem a little high. Rest assured they're going to make plenty on the back end of the deal.

Asking for another $500 off would certainly not put you in the league of the profit police.

Best,
Tony

Is Edmunds invoice pricing accurate? using 7% of MSRP and comparing to Edmunds is a $700 difference....My dealer is using the % off MSRP and then adding 1293...something feels off

Thoughts?

mmhaskar, did you show to the dealer edmunds.com and/or true.com quotes?? Negotiate from invoice, not from MSRP.

Thanks for the help folks - sat down and discussed with sales manager and he finally got on the same page re: using invoice price to frame the discussion v. his MSRP calculation (which he admitted was a bit off - it's more like 7.6%, not 7% as he was using for quick math).

At the end of the day, I feel good about a solid deal (Invoice + $800 - Nav credit - Team USA credit, plus a 5yr Wheel/Tire insurance for $350).

Sales manager was very reasonable and I'm glad I continued to press for using Invoice as our frame of reference.

FYI - Edmund's Invoice price is off ~205 dollars (200 for dealer training fee, and a random $5 in one of the packages but can't recall which one).

BMWConfig.com has the right info as far as I could tell.

So excited - already dreading the wait, though!

It was MAG - Brent (Sales Mgr) was great to work with - easy going and really helpful when I made him aware of the tire issues.

Would recommend them, but you need to either work with Brent or find a good CA (Justin was very knowledgeable!)

whats team USA credit? I'm in negotiations for a 528i with $55.7k MSRP.

Also, BMW offers any loyalty credit or not?

You drive BMW's and then some of their direct competitors from the likes of MB and Audi. Doesn't take long and you get a vouche in an email in a few days worth $1000 toward the purchase of a new BMW. Call your local dealers. They'll fill you in.
