Hi gspannu,

Do you have any time spare to code a F10 M5 for speed limit display?

I can work round any time you have available.

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

Yes would be happy to code your car.

What month/year of manufacture? Pre LCI, post LCI?

Hi gspannu,

Its a 2014 model - Competition pack model.

Not quite sure what you mean by LCI.

If you let me know when is good for you - I'll pop down.

Thanks

Just so I have understood it clearly:

You are looking to get the 'Speed Limit Display' enabled in your dashboard. - Meaning the sped limit of the current road you are travelling on (This is done using 2 parameters, data from the Professional SatNav display & reading Road signs).
I presume you would have the Professional SatNav, but do you a KAFAS module (camera) in your rearview mirror housing. Do you have the Lane Departure Warning system (where the steering vibrates if you crossover to another lane).

Otherwise, PM me your VIN number and I will check the details.

Hi,

I have a camera in the rearview mirror and the Lane Departure Warning system - Also distance collision warning system, etc.

Does that help?

Thanks!

It seems you do have the basic (prerequisite) hardware...
... but you probably will need a 7E FSC Enabling Code. So far, no one has been able to get this code (not even people who are selling FSC codes for SatNav upgrades).

Slightly older models (with KAFAS cameras) did not need FSC codes to enable SLI, all it required was coding - but with the KAFAS2 cameras, I believe you need FSC code as well as coding.

PM me your VIN number and I will check with some of my US contacts (if a FSC code can be generated/ confirm if one will be required).

Thank you for sending you VIN. My suspicion is confirmed.

Your car has a KAFAS2 camera and although the software settings can be achieved via coding, the feature cannot be activated without a FSC code.

Lot of people have tried the coding and have got the correct coding parameters, but the feature does not activate.

... and so far, there is no one available who can generate a 7E FSC code.

Apologies, but at this point in time; it seems you cannot enable SLI.

Not me really...
Most of the information is supplied by our friends over the pond. It is Shawn, Dreambox, Jeg23, token master and a few others who are the real experts.

I try and do what I can help in the UK here...

Hi Fx2UK,

I am in contact with some US folks and we are trying to do something about the SLI coding.Would you mind sending me your VIN again via PM?

Sorry, but I have deleted your previous PM with the VIN number.

Apologies.

Going to Aus (Melbourne) over the weekend for 4 days. So, maybe immediately after Easter break.

Let's discuss around 22nd April and fix a date.

Is it possible to get folding mirrors and closing of boot using fob thru coding? or does it require sm hardware
Both these options require hardware to be present in the car (Folding Mirrors - SA430; Boot Closing - SA316).

Folding Mirrors from Key Fob- this is the default setting in UK cars (no coding required).
Boot Closing From Key Fob - this is default setting in UK cars (no coding required).
Boot Closing from Driver Button - This can be coded as long as you have SA316 option..
How do you know what hardware has been installed?

Assuming you have your vehicle identification number (VIN), visit this site:

http://www.bmwarchiv.de/vin/

and where it says "Fahrgestellnummer" enter the last 7 digits of your vin and hit the submit button. This will give you the full list of equipment that was in your car when it left the factory. Clicking the "Datenblatt als .pdf speichern" will open a pdf giving a little more information.

I'm sure there must be an english equivalent site somewhere, but as I speak German I've never really looked :-)

Thanks, Swissfraser.

Just tried the site (in fact there is a UK flag at the bottom of the page which changes the language).

However, it says it doesn't recognise my VIN!!??

PM me your complete VIN number and I will check elsewhere as well and send you your manufacturing option list.

The hardware I was referring to in my post was
1) Electrically folding mirrors
2) Motorised Boot Open/ Close
If one has these options (as factory fitted), then they can be coded to be more useful.
e.g. the mirrors folding time can be coded - it is by default set to about 1.5 seconds (hold the lock button on key fob)
and the boot closing can be coded from the button in driver footwell (by default, the boot can only be opened from the button in driver footwell, not closed).

Thanks very much for this. Really appreciate it. Would it be possible to code door mirrors to code on .5secs? How much would this cost and would it cause any issues with warranty/dealer?

Cheers
CmdllbF11

Yes, it can be coded to whatever value you like. ½ second is a good time; as it allows you to not fold mirrors accidentally and also is short enough to not having to hold the lock button for ages.

As for charges: I do not charge anything for coding; absolutely free. You can read previous posts in this same thread.

As for the dealer warranty; I personally do not believe it is an issue, but again read the posts in the same thread on the same issue.

Let me know when you wish to come around - I am based in the Winchester/ Basingstoke area in Hampshire.

Got my F10 software updated to ISTA/P 14-03-503 today at the dealership... finally.

Name: ISTA F010-14-03-503.png
Views: 1884
Size: 14.3 KB

Lots of visible changes from what I had since last year.

Most visible things:
- SatNav imagery more crisper
- Options/ menus moved around; seem a bit more logical now
- Navigation audio (spoken instructions) now seem to come on a bit earlier in comparison.

.... but all my coding disappeared. This was as expected.

So, back to coding everything again... and yes, I may find some new stuff this time around.

So, a few more long evenings and weekends
