N55 - Uncertain about when they went from PWG to EWG?
Hello.
I am a little confused about when the N55 went from PWG to EWG, as I seem to find conflicting answers to this. So, various pages you get as results when searching this on Google tells me that the switch happened in July 2013. RealOEM seems to also confirm this. BUT. More than once have I seen people say that they have seen 2014 MY cars that were actually PWG. I have also seen someone suggest that at least F10/F11 535i didn't go EWG until as late as June/July 2014! This guy had a 03/2014 production 535i, and it was PWG. Anyone here have a definite answers, or own a 535i produced between July 2013 and July 2014 that could share if they have PWG or EWG? I have the impression that EWG N55s tend to be better in terms of the whole rod bearing thing that everyone loves to talk about. Because a lot of the cars I've seen with spun bearings or seized engine have been early N55 cars, like 2011, 2012 and sometimes 2013 MY cars. Thanks

On the 3 series it switched over for the 2014 model (production date would've been middle of the year 2013), and same goes for the 2/4 series I'm pretty sure. However on the 5 and 6 series it didn't switch until the 2015 model that I can tell. There may be some very late 2014s with EWG, but I can't confirm. My 640i(N55 despite the name) is a 01/14 build and PWG.
