Front license plate attachment question

Silly questions time, I'm sure.

Holes on front mounting plate don't match up with my license plate. Do I need some form of adapter? What am I missing?

Bill

You're not missing anything. Look closely and you will see four very small dimples - two at the top and two at the bottom located to the outside of the existing holes - which will align with your license plate. A type of sheet metal screw is used to fasten the plate. I believe the existing holes fit European plates only.

European plates go on a bracket/frame which is attached with screws.

i solve that problem real easily ... I don't run a front plate ... interferes with the aesthetics of the vehicle

Can't get away with that here, although it would've precluded me from getting a few tickets.

Also, had to use adhesive on the edges -- the parking sensors were picking them up.

When this thread resurfaced, I realized I neglected to say thank you for your response. Spot on and very helpful. Thanks!

don't ruin the front end

Wi requires front plates - but I haven't had one for more than 15 years with 3 different cars. I do keep a license plate under my seat so I can throw it up on the front dash if I ever get stopped. I think the likelihood of getting stopped for lack of a front plate as the only violation is quite slim - probably only going to happen if a cop is trying to radar you as you are approaching but can't get a read - and then it would probably only happen in a low traffic situation.
