iPhone messages ?

Hi All,

I have got a iphone 3gs is there anyway that you can view your text messages in the cars system, I have got prof media pack and bluetooth etc, my f10 was a august 2010 build so it dosent have the combox !!

Im sure i saw somewhere that this can be done ???

Not until Apple improve the capabilities of the Bluetooth stack in iOS. In particular, it's missing something called SAP (SIM Access Profile).

unfortunately.......at least for now, you would need the Combox as well. Time will tell if this portion of software will be able to be upgraded. Some say it might be, some others say no. Would be hopeful that BMW could give more details in the next few months.

The profile the iPhone is missing is called MAP (messaging access profile)

What exactly is the Combox? What does it enable? Does it require Snap-In adapter (media type) or will it work over Bluetooth (shouldn't be possible if MAP profile isn't supported by the phone).

as a rule of thumb any car built after sept 2010 (inc all F11's) was built with the combox controller....cars built before then contained the older style computa

the new iphone software upgrade is out 3/11/11 and i dont see a MAP upgrade.
Is it software related or hardware?

iOS5 supports track/song title information but not MAP (message access profile for reading text messages). It's software related.
