First Aid Kit for 550i

I know this might be a little nit pickey, but I just took delivery of my new 550i w/ M Package & after reading through my owners manual realized there is suppose to be a first aid kit in the trunk compartment where the tools are - it appears to be missing. Has anyone else had a first aid kit included? My dealer told me they are not included anymore as they are not required by the DOT...

In Canada, no such kit. Not even when on the E60. At least there is the "SOS" button (free of charge in the first year only).

You can order one that fits in the trunk compartment from the BMW Accessories catalog online. They are $26.00.

First Aid Kits

First Aid Kits and Warning Triangles are mandatory and are included in European Deliveries of US-spec'd vehicles.

Yes, all vehicles delivered for European delivery do have the First Aid Kits as well as the Warning Triangles. However, it used to be the case that these two items would ultimately be taken back out in their final prep for making it to the U.S. People used to recommend that owners take these out and take them back with them in their luggage back to the states. Im not sure if this is still in practice but guess it might be. (keakaiki - can you confirm that you are in the US and had your components included from a European delivery?)

Also, BMW does sell both a Warning Triangle and First Aid Kit in their Accessory Catalog, but neither of these will fit in the plastic "Trunk" tray. You could probably fit them in the cuuby hole underneath the trunk mat or the plastic tray on the right hand side.

I ordered the BMW First Aid Kit and it does fit in the trunk tray. The Warning Triangle meets US requirements and is too big for the tray.

I just took delivery of a 2012 535I and the kit was empty. I've had BMW's for years and they used to come with wrenches, pliers and lots of tools as well as a fresh first aid kit. Sigh... it looks just like everything else is downsized!

The OEM first aid kit is easy to find on eBay or Amazon for around $25. The best solution for the triangle, which will fit perfectly, is to get one from a BMW dealership in Europe. I got my triangle for 19€. It just bothered me to have empty spaces in the tool kit.

I cannot figure out how the lug key fits in the space in the picture. Any pictures?
