Sat nav retro fit problems

Hello everybody, im wondering if anyone has come across this problem before?
I recently purchased a cic sat nav wide screen upgrade kit from eBay and only yesterday got a chance to get it installed. My car is a 2012 520d m sport (late 2011 build) prior to the installation and coding process my installer asked me if I would like a complete software update engine , transmission , modules ect as my car had never been updated naturally I agreed.
During the flashing process something went wrong and my instrument cluster stopped working the left hand indicator started flashing and now the car is showing up an extensive list of faults/errors!
Now the installer is a reputable guy so I believe he knows what he is doing.
I'm wondering has anyone else come across this issue before?
Please help

Well your installer should tell you whats gone wrong!

I saw similar things in past. Do You know what stuff he used for flashing kombi?

Problem sorted . It was the coders laptop that was in trouble

Lucky the issue is resolved, not a problem you want to go back to the main dealer with, if you do not mind me asking what was the total cost?

€500 for the hardware €300 to get the coding , new map install and the car re flashed , there was some re wiring also as I have an oem rear view camera

Not a bad price considering what the option price was when I got my car in 2011, I am considering the mirroring option for iphone, but must admit having the proper unit is the best solution!
Do you know need to avoid software upgrade at the dealer or is possible to go on as normal when down to upgrading with BMW software?
Was your job anywhere near the west of Ireland, I am based in Galway?

Unfortunately martin I had to travel to Dublin to get it done . As regards the software. my car is out of warranty so I'm doing my own servicing from now on so no updates but it is a relatively simple job to put back in the old hardware before visiting the dealer

Was that the Germanic guys up in dub by any chance? I am getting my F10 in 2 days and I would like to get the cic prof retrofitted
