Retrofit folding mirrors?
My car has nearly all the options I wanted however it's missing the folding mirrors which I would like to retrofit if it's not overly expensive/complicated. Does anyone know what's involved in doing this?

It's easy! Plug and play if you don't mind soldering a PCB. Check out my guide:-

It is the one of the most useful of the options I think. I use it all the time. Such a wide car sticks out into the road further than smaller cars and risks the mirrors being knocked off more.
This should be standard on 5 series.... It is not even standard on the 535 MSport.

It's genuinely annoying that this feature is not standard on a 2015 5 Series but is standard on a 2008 Ford Fiesta. Grrr.

It's very expensive, I'm still working on whether it's worth it or not. I'm not overly keen on the auto dimming feature, I found it was too dark when driving on the motorway.

I love folding mirrors for the show of them, but won't retrofit them when I don't have them.
Handy for sure, but for my uses (and the fact that I won't park in a place where folding my mirrors in might actually be required) I can always find other things to spend the money on first. If there was a really simple P&P solution at a decent price then I would consider it. Soldering things though? - not brave enough me! |
