Finally sorted out rusted calipers

Ive asked BMW to paint mine (I picked one of the grays) and very happy how they finally look. Before they looked just nasty. Didnt do the blue or red as this is still a 530xd but over summer I hope they have enough contrast but also dont stick out too much. For anyone considering I recommend the move.

I considered some copper or dark brown metallics or much lighter silver colors but ultimately the shape of these calipers - rear especially - are so industrial, that highlighting them didn't make sense for me. The color is Bluestone Metallic as on G30 5 series btw. Has a bit of a bluish hue in some light, which is just right, though might be boring for some.. Will do better pics in summer with summer wheels on.

It wasnt that bad, the job is also quite big as they need to get them thoroughly cleaned, etc. Plus I have 2 year warranty on the paint, which is good to have and I trust them more than some random shop. No guarantees from mistakes etc of course, just a piece of mind.

Here is a better lighting pic. really like this color, it has a blue hue in direct sun. In spirit of BMW sports brakes, but a more peasant diesel version.

That color is growing on me. Had a dealer loaner, 2018 5 series, calipers were that color.

You inspired me to do this! Thank you! Color is VHT Titanium Silver Blue. Primer, base coat, and clear coat. Took about 6 hours, per wheel. Of course, it included changing pads and rotors. Updated the rotor set screw to a stainless. Also, I painted the dust shields in satin black (primer and base coat).

Just finishing a four-wheel brake and rotor job on my 535d and wish that my brake assembly looked as good as your "before" photos. My car has just 20K miles, but after two winters road salt turns brake parts into rusted junk. Even the aluminum hats on the rotors become pitted. From my perspective, as long as the moving parts are well greased and function aesthetics are pointless.

I painted my satin black when I changed my rotors and pads.

I had the car detailed on the Before photo, so that caliper looks that clean unpainted only because a guy a paid hundreds of dollars to clean the whole car really worked hard on the whole thing, not just the paint. Calipers were awful before. So yours looks blackish is probably fine, tbh.
