...Ashtray lid won't fully open

I think a coin prevents my ashtray lid to open more than approx 60°. I was about 30°, but after some knocks on the side it opened more.

I was able to released the tray, but the gap was to narrow to fully remove it. I don't want to pull to hard as I'm afraid I'll break som plastic parts.

I hope to fix this myself and not take it to the dealer..

Sugestions? Is there a method to open the lid?

Thanks.

Unfortunately there is no technical way of dislodging that coin... Just keep wiggling it around and remember not to put coins in there in the future...

Good luck

Same thing happened with mine and now its all scratched up. I put my change in the driver door insert from now on. I went to the dealer to see what they can do and one of the guys used a magnetic pen to take them out 1 by 1. Hope you get it fixed

The cover not the lid slides off to give a few mms of clearance, then remove ashtray out which is a squeeze. I then gave a few hard bangs on the side of console to force the coins to move and managed to pick them out.

There is an insert you can get which replaces the ashtray which is great for coins. Keeps them from jamming up the door.

I got mine at the dealer. It was less than $15.

It pretty much looks like the ashtray insert, with no clear window for the light and no holder for the butt. I keep coins for parking in it all the time and have not had any issues with jamming. And no rattling.

Garage List
We have that as standard here in Hong Kong. And my coins still jam the cover from openning once in a while. Probably going to try a trick of sticking a post-it on the inside of the coin insert where the gap to the lid is for a cheapo fix......
