i have a 2012 550i with 1,000 miles. i can can feel a slight vibration when at idle. i really have to concentrate to feel it, but it's there. is this normal?

yea the engine is still new and breaking in. Just give it some time and it will stop. Also putting the AC on makes it vibrate more

Does it get worse the longer it idles, and when the engine warms up?

alex, i'm not sure if it gets worse, but it doesn't get better

I've had shaking or vibration on mine as well, it's definitely more pronounced when idling at a stop light for a minute or so. Enough to feel it in your seat and legs. I'm troubleshooting with the dealer now, but they have yet to find the root cause. There are no codes or CELs thrown.

I don't believe it's normal, or has anything to do with the break in period...

Same problem here.
My friends were telling me that my car's idle sound is loud when they stood next to my car.
On driver's seat, I can feel the vibration on whole car. (can feel steering wheel, seat and whole car literally).

dropped off the car at dealer and they found nothing.
I just got back my car today and seemed like it went away at first.

But few hours later while I was idling at parking lot,
I just got "Drivetrain Malfunction" warning and engine check light was on.
I drove to my house under 30mph, since the car wasn't let me accelerating,
After let the car sit about an hr, the warning and light was gone.
But I feel the vibration and rattling noise all over again.

Must be something to do with the warning and things..
I'm bringing the car to dealer tomorrow morning, hope the error recorded and they find something this time.
