Either way it's my car and not BMWs, they can only void a claim if the fault was caused by the fitting of the bulbs so in reality how much damage can LED bulbs really do.
If I fitted a bigger turbo and the engine blew then fair enough. So many people are scared to death of BMW and just do as they are told and only use the parts BMW say you have to fit. It's the same with servicing people just turn up pay through the nose and drive off, I hate just taking everything at face value, be individual! |

I've ordered a set too.
The power ratings of these LED bulbs tend to be lower than the incandescent bulbs and therefore unlikely in my humble and non professional opinion to do anything adverse to the electrics. As mentioned I think the fuse blowing was more to do with the fact that the polarity of the led was incorrect and tripped the fuse. I think although the fuel analogy was simplistic, in principle I am more of this view. To bring the comparison back to bulbs, so do we all have to go back to BMW if a bulb blows, or what if we fitted one (non approved) from a well known motor parts retailer? Not trying to say who is right or wrong, but we're all old enough and wise enough (or not) to decide what we do with our cars |

LEDs will only work one way, it's a very common mistake that people think they're faulty when they have fitted them when they just need to correct the polarity.

No simply installing an LED reversed will not blow a fuse.

Not disputing that the fuse blew, obviously, but the simple fact of an LED in back to front would not cause it. A fuse can blow on a normal bulb change easily enough, especially if power is on during the change.

I wonder if my issue was that the power was on as you say, would it blow if its the wrong way round and I then powered it up do you think or just the fact that I fiddled with the bulb whilst the power was on? |

I suspect just an intermittent contact as it was fitted. If an LED is fitted in reverse it's just an open circuit and no current will flow at all. If you fit an LED backwards it's the same as fitting nothing as it will not conduct current in reverse.

My kit arrived the other day, not had chance to pop the bulbs in yet as the weather is well typically northern :-P

Managed to get out and have a look at fitting these and after nearly 30 mins of swearing at the front dome I had to give up and admit defeat... before I hurt myself and the car. I couldn't for the life of me get it down.. Rear dome only took a couple of minutes. Any suggestions?
I'll be having another look later on before the rain hits again...

I've got my bulbs and also purchased an interior trim removal kit but haven't got round to changing the bulbs yet.
I found this guide for replacing interior bulbs for an F10 which is what I was going to use which you might find useful..... http://bd8ba3c866c8cbc330ab-7b26c6f3..._LED_Light.pdf |
