I was able to get a 6 month extension, but this was based on my buying a new BMW that was on order. Without that, I think I would have only been allowed to extend for 2 months.

6 months. Just ask your dealer to get you an order number (it doesn't have to be a firm offer) and financial services will get you another 6 months. After that they will definitely want the car back, as I've been told it is a legal issue with a leased car.

However, if you put money down to lower the capitalized cost, you're going be to surprised to see higher payments on the extension. The more you put down on the initial lease the higher your payments will be. Now, if you order a new bmw you can turn your car in 3 months early or keep it for 3 months. They will usually keep the same price on an extension. If you want to lease your same car for longer than 1 year, it makes sense to go to a bank or talk to BMWFS. In most cases, BMWFS will want you to CPO the car and this usually put you into looking to lease a new car territory since the CPO isn't cheap. |
