535 m-sport begging for 20 inch rims
So the car is just three days old and the jet black in M-sport guise is just begging for a 20 inch rim upgrade. Its odd because in silver the M-sport 19's looked fine, but the dark car looks under wheeled if there is such a term. I'm already committed to swapping out the run flats for a set of Michelin pilot super sport 2's, and now I'm wondering whether to stay OEM 20's or go with a BBS or other high quality after market rim. I need to make a decision on rims before changing the tires obviously.
Any suggestions? |

I see you are in CT and the roads there arent so bad. I suggest going with 20s and leave your 19s as-is and use it on a 'rainy day'.
BBS is nice but they are heavy. may i suggest spending the cash saved from not touching the GYs to get a more light and stronger forged wheels. |

Forgestar F14's
Or the OEM 20" 343m's that are stock on the M5. Keep in mind that your ride quality will be diminished by going with even lower profile tires on the 20" rims. The PSS's are great summer tires, but have pretty stiff sidewalls, so your ride will be a bit stiffer with those as well. |

OEM M5 Wheels style 343 20x9 20x10. Ride doesn't feel any worse, in fact it is better w/o the runflats. Steering feels a lot lighter due to lighter wheels/tiers

If you wanted to stick with an OEM wheel, here is another 20" option, Style 303's. 20x8.5 front, 20x10 rears.

265/35/20 295/30/20 Michelin pilot super sports.
Yes they rub under harsh hi speed dips, probably would also rub on full load. Haven't tested that yet. Normal driving, it's fine.

I have a question for you guys. If the rim gets larger doesn't the diameter of the tire remain the same? So what causes the rubbing? Is it the width increasing? If 20's are stock on an M5 and doesn't rub on that car which is essentially the same, why would it rub on a 535, assuming you are set up with the correct offset?

If I do get a set of 20's with summer tires i will keep the 19's with the all season rubber for the winter months. Also I lease my car so I need to return it with all the original equipment. I'm sure you can find a set of take offs either here or on ebay.

The rear 295mm stock m5 tire is huge though. I think others have run 285s and that's solved the problem Here's an idea of black on black, if you're interested. Last edited by twelve535i; 04-04-2015 at 11:19 PM.. |

Thanks. No drop at all. Car looks lower because of front lip. I think the black on black helps you see past the wheel gap.
Wheels might be up for sale soon. I really like them but have another set for summer...... |
