Shock replacement, adaptive (VDC) suspension

I am intending to replace my shock absorbers at about 80,000km, am not at 60,000km. I have the VDC adaptive drive with electronic shock absorbers and already purchased the spare struts.

Reading through ISTA there is a need to align the front shocks with a laser aligning tool. Anyone know whether there is another way to carry out this alignment without the tool? Dealer will not replace unless the parts are bought from them!
