My solution to ditching my run flats
After a bit of research and test fitting, I discovered that the space saver rim/tire from an E60 5 series fits on our F10's with a 10mm spacer. Since I already had spacers I started my search for an E60 space saver wheel/tire. Two weeks later I found a brand new one on EBay for $100. Also picked up this spare tire tote for $15. Now all I need is a BMW emergency jack or a small scissor jack to keep in the trunk for emergency tire changes. If you are interested in doing the same, the part number for the wheel is 36116758778.

Excellent find! Those scissor jacks will kill you, but a small floor jack from a local auto parts store and you'll be quite pleased...

I know this is old but I recently ditched my runflats also. Did you find a good solution for a jack?

I just bought a cheap scissor jack from Amazon. Not great, but at least it doesn't have plastic parts like the BMW POS jack. Luckiliy I haven't had to use it yet. I have a couple good floor jacks in my garage that I use for wheel changeovers, so the scissor jack is just for emergencies.

Nice, but the rolling diameter of the e60 is 25.5", an inch shorter than stock tires? Tire Rack has a 135/90/17 that will do the trick, $78.
Just put Sumitomo 245/40/19 on mine, went for the value/best rated, $140 a tire, ($122 at tirerack.com) they are much softer than the run flats and handle well, no noticeable performance loss. Probably will stay with these since they are rated high for winter as well, and then replace at 70% of tread wear, at this price why live that last low tread performance in snow or rain. May try the spare above, currently I have an air pump and plug kit in the truck, don't want to use flatfix or Slime as they might damage the tire sensors, hopefully just pump and run to the nearest Town Fair Tire, where I bought the Sumitomos. |

New here....
Hey, I'm looking into getting an F10 535i.
I was doing some research, and found out about the lack of a Spare Tire in the trunk. It's a shame.... All the 5-Series before the F10's had the whole kit and caboodle. My Brother has a 2002 E46. He has a Full Size Spare, Jack, Lug Wrench, even Wheel Chocks. And a Tool Kit. I've also found out that the Battery takes the place of where the Spare used to go in the E60. After looking at Pictures, is it possible to put the Donut Spare in the space where the Battery is? I mean, if someone were to remove the battery/relocate it. Just for a little background, I'm a 4th-Gen F-Body guy. I'm familiar with all the forums and what people do. It seems people here are doing the same stuff, more or less. (Cat Back Exhausts, parting out cars, Custom Wheels, Etc.) These are really neat beefy cars, even compared to their predecessors. I've found out about the Fuel Pump connector recall/issue, and I have a different perspective on why it may be happening. [I work on Computers & Electronics] I would like to know a lot more about these cars. I am only familiar with the E46, as my Brother has one and I've worked on it. Smoooooth I-6's, love the sound and feel! Nothings like an LS1 V8, that's for sure! [Granted, HP & Torque are higher on the LS1's] |

Trying to get the wheel/tire combo that matches closer to the true size of the OEM wheel/tire.
Looking at this for the wheel $60 : https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...l/36116758778/ And this for the tire $74 : https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires...omCompare1=yes Tire size difference is -0.15". Which is within tolerance. Thoughts? |

I have looked for several hours for a steel rim, all the 5 x 120mm bolt diameters have an undersized center hole (we need 72.6mm), offset should not be a problem with the thin wheel, but can't find one.
It is a shame to pay the big bucks for a spare. Saved one of my better run flat tires, maybe I can find a trashed 19" rim for a spare. |

The mid 2000 X3 has the same 5X120 bolt pattern with a 72.6mm bore, so it's steel rim fits (BMW 36-11-6-758-778), with a 135/90/17 spare from tirerack, we get the right rolling diameter, $58 and $78 cost online respectively.
