AUC 535d....how much shoudl i be offering?

Hi All,

I'm in the process of selling my E39 M5 with the intention to purchase an F11 535d. I'm looking at a circa 2013 plate or newer...not too fused about whether its an LCI or not. Now my question is how much is realistically feasible to negotiate off from such a model at a BMW garage???...two scenarios:

Scenario 1 - Part exchange with the rest in cash

Scenario 2 - Just cash.

Not really interested in PCP or HP

Your thoughts will be much appreciated!

Cheers

A lot really depends on you, and your budget, and what you want in terms of spec.

Assuming you want a 2013 or 2014 car, there are a grand total of 6 for sale on AUC.
3 of those have pro nav, for example. So if it's something you really want, then they've got you over a barrel. Supply / demand.
Include 2015 cars (and thus increase the price), and there are a total of 19 cars for sale - roughly one for every 10 BMW dealerships in the UK. So you're still over a barrel, because the supply side is tiny.

EDIT : for your M5, far better to sell it via pistonheads. You'll be offered buttons for it as a part-ex, unless it's truly exceptional. Just be prepared to deal with every timewaster on the planet.

My experience from 3 AUCs is that cash gets you less discount than signing up to some finance. I've always bought cash, they have always had me over a barrel due to supply and I invariably cave early because I want the car so much. I have had 3-5% off.

Of course you can take the finance and the associated discount and then cancel the finance but it sounds like too much grief to me.

Thanks chaps - 3-5% cash is what i'll keep in mind - much appreciated

petrol 535i would be nice but the miles I do would mean a diesel would be a better bet! I'm currently paying circa £150 a week in the M5

Fair dos, I've moved from a 535d to a 535i but I'm only doing circa 8k miles a year and most journeys being short town types. The difference in mpg is that different. If your doing the miles then it's the right choice to stick with the diesel.
