We took an Infinity out for an extended test drive. Great car I loved it, but still no BMW. But well worth the £21k, it was the fully loaded tech version with everything in Grey. My Wife did not like it, she said that it had rattles and creaked, I never noticed them though.

Well, I have tested the infinity Q70 for about 15 minutes. The road and engine noise is excessive, suspension okay and the throttle response is delayed. It some how feels smaller than F10. The infotainment system is somehow dated. However the exterior styling is great and better than 5 series in my opinion, the handling is good, the ventilated leather is great and the trim is not bad. Overall it felt like a step down from F10. I didn't take it even with the reduced price

I have mate who lives in Dubai and he traded in his C Class for an Infinity early last year. He regretted it within a few weeks, complained about build quality and rattles that the dealership couldn't resolve.

Think you were wise to avoid..

LLOYD BMW organised a G30 event today. I went there and G30 in all the colours were very nice including non M Sport trim. The cars look bigger and more handsome than F10 in terms of exterior. The interior quality is far better than F10 and the idrive is far superior. IMO, the rear view of M Sport Alpine white is the best for all colours on display.

It does look great but I'm hoping that the "stick on ipad" satnav screen starts to grow on me. Am I alone in thinking that it looks hideous and the F10 in-dash screen looks much better?

It will grow on you, we have the same style of screen on our F48 and I think that the implementation is neater than some of the Mercs. Particularly the previous A Class we had...

However seeing as we have HUD this practically renders the screen obsolete, as I hardly ever look at the screen or instrument cluster in general use

I had a good look at one on Tuesday evening and there's nothing about it (not had a drive to be fair) that makes me want to swap mine. I don't think the spec of the launch cars helped, but it's nothing like the step up from the E60 to F10. It didn't help that there was a nicely specced 7 Series in the showroom, which was a lot nicer place to be and not much more per month at the moment.

There was a white 7 series in the same show room with about 5 or more G30s. I actually preferred the dashboard of G30 to the 7 series. It looked more modern. Of course the rear seat of the 7 series was more loaded with toys

The G30 that Williams Manchester have in still has the camouflage patterns on it. Seems overly cautious at this point.

Purely a marketing gimmick at this stage.
