Honest compare and contrast of the two cars would be interesting.

I have not driven a Shelby but drove a 2012 5.0, felt the car was a tad large and had bad brake dive. Steering was not bad but not great either. Has the Shelby addressed that?

congrats on making the big power... hopefully it has enough of the big power to overcome its lack of luxury and refinement. I personally wouldn't be able to go from a BMW to a Ford without it getting me down every time I couldn't/didn't go WOT to enjoy all the power

Well... Bmw is def more refined for sure. The interior is much better in the BMW, I had a 2008 Bullitt edition mustang 2 cars before the BMW so I knew what I was getting into. The power in the Shelby is just brutal ! I can break the tires loose 1st thru 4th... The Brembos are awesome also. Your at 100mph before you know it... check out some vids on youtube on the 2012's ... its really easy to fall in love with this kind power !! If i could have afforded to have both I would loved to have the Bimmer as my daily driver.

Sorry, but I consider this a downgrade. The Shelby's are really shit. They don't do well in the 1/4 mile. they have bad brake dive, handling is sub-par (from my experience being in one). They do sound and look cool but that is about it. Once again, just my opinion but if you want a beast that is probably more reliable and ballsy then you got the right car.

They outperform on the track in every category against any 3 series, including the M3, according to Car & Driver.

I am seriously considering getting a Shelby GT500 as a stablemate for my 1965 GT350.

Please post a review after you have put some miles on it.

Sorry to see you go. Its ashame the 335i is gone. But Im sure you will have fun with that power. A guy Im friends with that owns a local auto body shop in my area which is BMW, Mercedes, porsche, and ferrari certified owns some kind of Roush mustang. It has sick power. Nice looking car. Good luck with it , Im sure your gonna love the power. On another note, any mods from the 335i your selling?

Congrats! Can't compare with that raw power. Just don't complain if it isn't nice enough

Nice hp numbers, but the car just doesn't put that power to the ground. You're pretty much stuck with straightline pulls. Lets see how the 650hp 2013 does. I've pre-ordered, so i'll post a comparo when it arrives.

You do realize his car will hang with M3s on a track right? So you are saying the M3 is subpar, a downgrade and shit?

A track with twisties? With a solid rear end. Huh?

I love the car- I think it's an upgrade performance wise over the 335i of course and the M3 (which I think is way overpriced glorified 3 series, I don't get the hype). I've seen Cobras put 9's down at the track w/the correct setup, have yet to personally see a gt500 do it.

The "downgrade" is going from a BMW to a Ford...

You can argue about HP numbers all day, but this is the way I see it...

the mustang is a "muscle car" - i.e. - made for straight line speed ( i.e. 1/4 mil times)... big car with BIG power, which is cool.

the BMW is more of a "touring car" BMWs and MBs might not have the most power in terms of HP, and might not be the fastest in a straight line - but as almost every BMW will tell you.... its about driving the car on a curvy mountain road, or taking a 4 hr round trip down a coastal road with the car hugging every turn.

who cars what car and driver says? so they "might" be compared to an M3/GT500.... the cars are COMPLETELY different in my eyes.

Nothing wrong with the stang, as it is a nice fast car. But getting to the same "end product" is achieved very differently by both cars.

I agree completely that they do not compare. But for people to call the Mustang shit because it can't handle shows they have no clue about what Mustangs can do NOW. In the past, it is a valid argument. But now a days, this Mustang will handle the curves just as well as the BMW. Does it have the luxury while doing it, of course not. But in performance aspect comparison, the BMW is not better. Yet people are talking like it is. The Mustang is no longer made for straight line speed.
I do agree it is an OVERALL downgrade for a car that will be driven everyday. But it is not a complete downgrade like people make it out to be.

(and this is coming from a guy who use to HATE mustangs. But now I have to give them the credit they are due.)

I agree with almost all of what you said except "the downgrade is going from BMW to Ford". Tell that to a Ford GT. I'd call that ignorance or blind brand loyalty. When you go to a track and that purpose built Ford Mustang blows by you in your purpose built M3, it will make you think twice.

Eternal- the GT500 is not a "twisties" car, the 302 is.
