Strange noise when engine rev around 1450 rpm
Recently I noticed when the engine rev is around 1450 rpm, there is a strange vibration noise (sounds like a lose screw somewhere), regardless the speed or gear. Not sure if the noise is coming from the gear box, exhaust pipe, turbo or some other lose screws. Made a appointment with my local BMW, scheduled near end of August. I am hoping it is not serious, but the noise does get more and more vocal day by day.
Any one got similar experience? Although it is 2.0 diesel (N47 I guess), my 2013 model shouldn't have the timing chain issue any more. What else could it be? |

Sounds like it could be the timing chain, from what I have read cars up to 2015 can suffer with it.. and I guess to a lesser extent any car "could" have a random problem not related to the usual more common problem attributed to this.
However if it is only at a certain rpm it could be the particular frequency (NVH) is causing something to rattle or make a noise, so it could be as simple as a lose component/bolt etc. Not sure I would want to risk it though. |

After a few days and more observations, I noticed the noise is happening when the speed is between 20-30 MPH, guessing to be on the 3rd gear.
It sounds like a 4-digit cost already...(crying...) |

I didn't extend the warranty. I was thinking about changing the car, but now thinking if I should do a bit of down-sizing (car length wise) and up-sizing (car height wise).
Magically, since last Thursday, this strange noise issue suddenly disappeared. I tried all different speed, mode...etc, I can no longer notice that noise. Maybe that particular lose screw has now lost, I don't know. |
