2013 535i M Sport purchase
Hi everyone,
I'm looking at purchasing a 2013 535i, carbon black/black leather, with 90k miles from a dealership. The car has the following options when I plug in the VIN to the decoder sites - I omitted some to save space: S2TBA Sport automatic gearbox S3AGA Reversing camera S316A automatic trunk lid mechanism S319A Integrated universal remote control S322A Comfort access P337A M Sports package S4B9A Interior trim strips, alum.finishgrinding S4U1A Ceramic application, control elements S415A Sun-blind, rear S416A Roller sun visor, rear lateral S430A Interior/outside mirror with auto dip S431A Interior mirror with automatic-dip S453A Climate-controlled seats, front S455A Active seat for driver and passenger S456A Comfort seat with memory S465A Through-loading system S488A Lumbar support, driver and passenger S494A Seat heating driver/passenger S5AGA Lane change warning S5DLA Surround View S508A Park Distance Control (PDC) S6NFA Music interface for Smartphone S6UHA Traffic Information S6WAA Instrument panel with extended scope S609A Navigation system Professional S610A Head-up display S615A Extended BMW Online Information S655A Satellite tuner S677A HiFi system Professional DSP S704A M Sports suspension S710A M leather steering wheel S715A M Aerodynamics package S760A High gloss shadow line S775A Headlining anthracite So, looking at the 2013 pricing and options list, it looks like this car has the following options: ZDA Driver Assistance Package ZDB Driver Assistance Plus ZLS Luxury Seating Package ZMP M Sport Package ZPP Premium Package ZTP Technology Package 2TB Sport automatic transmission with shift paddles 494 Heated front seats 677 Premium hi-fi system 416 Power rear sunshade with rear manual side window This seems like a very well optioned car from what I can tell. Also, the 2013 options list doesn't mention the 704 M sport suspension, but this car has it...is that peculiar? The car is a one-owner, new P-zero run flats (yuck), and the price is about $13.5k. Does this sound reasonable? About me: I'm an avid DIY person. I had a '00 M5 years ago that I replaced the clutch myself, so I think I can handle most anything on the car. We're expecting our first child in June, so I need a grown up vehicle. Currently I have a '92 3000gt VR4 and '92 Eagle Talon Tsi AWD that I'll be selling some time this year. Thanks! |

Normal. 704 was added during the 2013 model year, part of the M-Sport package. It may not have been in the earliest pricing guides from 2012 though, but in later ones. Looks like a great car btw.

Seems like a good deal actually i wouldn't let the mileage worry you the n55 100 times more reliable than what your use too right now. I've had modded dsm's for 10 years definenitally turned me into a mechanic. I bought a n54 335i 6 years ago and thats even 50 times more reliable than any of the dsm's i had and just as fast (mid 11's 1/4). It'll be a huge upgrade in everyway.

Update:
I picked up the car on Jan 25th. It looks very nice and seems to be in good condition. The few defects I've noticed so far include a temperamental power rear window shade, interior door handle/pull trim wear/disintegration, windshield cowl disintegration, noisy blower motor on high speeds, and a leaky valve cover. I plan to do all the repairs myself. For the blower motor noise, it seems that the foam filter disintegrates after a few years. I was thinking of replacing it with a stainless steel mesh screen. |

Find an indy mechanic on BIMRS.ORG and have them do a "Pre-Purchase Inspection" even though you've already purchased the car. It should cost under $200 and it will let you know what items are due to be replaced so you can start budgeting for them, etc.

It's very nice! It's the perfect combination of sporty and luxury for me. And I'm sure that it will be better after I can replace the run flats, struts/shocks, and maybe upgrade the sway bars. I'm thinking of buying the bimmer-tech CarPlay MMI adapter too. That's the only thing the car needs in the multimedia/tech department. I will change the transmission fluid (drain and fill a few times), then replace the pan. I'll also replace the rear differential fluid and inspect the differential bushings and giubo for tears. I want to have a nice, solid base to start from. Eventually, I'd like to explore the MHD or BM3 flash options. |

I replaced the valve cover and the windshield cowl yesterday. I also pulled out the blower motor and cleaned out the leaves, then epoxied some aluminum screening on the blower intake. I'm really loving the car!
