M5 343 Wheels on F10

Hi,

Long story as short as possible, just under two years ago I bought a set of original M5 343 wheels to fit to my 2011 F10 535d M Sport. With the original tyres the rears protruded just a little bit too far on the arch and so I fitted new Michelin PSS 255/35 at the front and 285/30 rears and everything was just fine. I ran them for over a year with no issues whatsoever.

I sold the car at the end oflast year and bought a 2014 model (same spec) at the beigining of this year. I had them fitted to the new car for about a month and then had to have them taken off again for a separate issue. Just went to fit them back on today and noticed that on the fronts one of them has come into contact with the brake caliper (we're talking millimetres) but it has left a slight scoring all the way round the just outside the hub, see picture. Its only happened on one side but when either front wheel is offered up to the other to the other hub the clearance between the wheel and the caliper is no more than a couple of millimetres, too fine to risk. So I have 2 mm clearance on one side and fouling on the other.

Has anyone any ideas why it wasn't a problem on my original 2011 F10 but is with the 2014 model, I'm sure the brake calipers must be the same? Any thoughts on solution, guys fitting wheels suggested a couple of mm could be filed off the high spot on the caliper casing? I've attached a picture of the wheel where you can see the scoring. Any thoughts or similar experiences?

use wheel spacers to gain a better offset for calliper clearance.

+1

I wouldn't file anything off the caliper just for safety measures. Go With some wheel spacers

Yep, tend to agree and gave ordered some 3mm spacers, hopefully this should solve it, thanks.
