Man, I love Nappa Leather...

I've owned a bunch of BMW's over the years (see sig), this is the 1st with Nappa interior.

Nappa leather is so much softer to the touch and I swear it seems to heat-up quicker in cold weather too.

So worth the extra $$$ imo...

Good to know. I'm always tempted to order it, but stick to the Dakota which has been fine for me. I'll spring for the LED lights instead

I have Nappa in my current car and at 3K miles it is starting to show its age.

Yes, it looks nice, yes it is soft but it looks like crap after 2 years no matter how you take care of it (I am a detail freak).

I would much prefer leatherette which unfortunately can not be ordered in my car's configuration. Good thing it is a lease and I won't have to worry about what it looks like down the road.

But for the time being, you are right. It is great.

Unlike the poster's above, at 40k, my nappa looks better than when I first picked up the car. It has a few subtle lines in it and it's really developing a nice natural leather patina and only expect it to look better as time goes on.

Might be waiting a while for an 8 Series lol!

My Nappa has 9k miles, so a ways to go. But it still looks great.

I did the Zeurich protection on it since it was Oyster White. That might be helping.

Oyster Nappa at 45,000+ and still looking great.

I've done nothing to clean or protect it, though keep meaning to. . .

Hi - Purchased a CPO 2014 535i last week with 36k miles and Napa Mocha leather - except for left thigh bumper of the driver's seat - the leather looks new. On the portion that shows wear on the driver's seat, that wear exists on every car I've owned, including an Audi TT, and my last 2 328i's. The 535i is unusual in that only a few creases exist on that driver's seat area (where you enter and exit and hit the thigh bump).

The Dakota in my 328i was worse after 40k miles - the black dye was wearing out - I've used a black leather dye product to spot . The issue with Dakota is that it is not a soft leather even using Zaino products. The Napa, however, says "leather."

I just wish they offered a color close to black in the Merino

I have 16k on nappa leather seats. Way too much wear and tear for my liking. I had dakota on my previous F10 and it looked brand new at 25k. Moral of the story, I dont care since its a lease, but wonder how these nappa seats will look at 50k miles.

Nappa is very delicate and nice to the touch, but I am not really rubbing my seats while driving so I vote practicality over plush. I would choose less expensive and more durable Dakota any day.

I think ill be sticking to Dakota if the vehicle is long-term.. some places look quite worn with 112K KM on the dash. I dont even want to know what nappa would look like with the same mileage.

I bought a used 2000 328i with 85k and the driver's seat in Dakota looked old, worn, wrinkled and losing its dye.

Bought a 2009 328 w Dakota Leather with 45k and except for the driver's bolster, it looked great - the driver's bolster, though, was wrinkled and lost the black dye. Have tried a couple of products but can't get the color back.

Have a '14 535i with 36k and Napa Leather - looks great with full color.

I think it's a matter of constant care but the driver's left bolster does take the brunt of damage- on the Napa and Dakota, it's the first place of wear.

Maintain with good product. Keep it clean.

Definitely agree with the leatherette statement. That stuff is bulletproof and really does look like leather.

And feels like plastic/vinyl... At least to me. One of the only things I really hate when i get a 3 or 528 loaner. The new "cloth" seats in non-leather cars also feels like rough nylon to me. That stuff makes my back itch!

Major confusion !

Dakota IS NOT leatherette it is leather, just not as high grade as Nappa.

Sensatec IS leatherette and that used to go on base F10 528 NOT Dakota. Configurator will be soon gone from the BMW page as G30 is around the corner.

So...SensaTec > Dakota > Nappa
