50-50 Weight Distribution?
Now, I know that BMW are known for having close to 50-50 weight distribution. But for the life of me I cant understand how can both a 528i and a 550i/M5 have a 50-50 weight distribution.
The kerb weight of a 528i with a N20 is 1620 Kgs and a M5 is 1945 kgs. Thats 325 kgs or 716 pounds. Since im guessing other than the engine most of the parts on the rear half of the car are fairly identical (dont think bigger brakes or exhausts make much of a difference)...any ideas as to which one has the actual 50-50 (or close) weight distribution? This is a very useful site for getting car specs. https://autodata24.com/bmw/m5/m5-f10...560-hp/details |

As you say, engines will have an impact on weight distribution, as will x-Drive. Drive a 4-cylinder model in something like the F30 range, feel how much more agile and balanced it is, compared to a 6-cylinder model. Less weight, better front-rear balance. |
