Genuine BMW USB to iPhone5 Lightening Cable
Not sure if people are aware, but when I picked my car up, I was given a lead by the dealer, it is a genuine BMW to lightening connector. Apparantly one of the first in the UK.
Sadly for me, it doesn't work and I have had to go down the 'Y' cable and adaptor route, but I guess it could be because I don't have the prof nav. Anyway, here was the box it came in. I'll try and get the part number and post if for those interested. Hadn't seen anyone post up about it so thought I'd share. |

Oh no, sorry, not looking to sell , I'm told it will work once BMW release an update so I'm holding onto it.
Was more to let people know that the lead exists, hence posting in here and not the sale section |

Just spoke to the parts dept for you and have a few more details
Part Number: 61122 354 478 Length: about 25cm Cost: £37.60 (circa $50-60) Listed on the UK BMW eBay site: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-Genuin...-/171152744900 Not sure on the functionality, but I know it offers charging and presumably the same controls via iDrive as the older 'Y' cable. What type of connector (USB, AUX, both) is at the other end of the Lightning?

I'm not sure to be honest. I believe it's for those without the professional Nav, but it doesn't work in my car yet anyway and I'm still using the 'Y' cable

The last failure of my "great eBay cable for $8" this week pushed me to buy this OEM cable. Let's say that it is not $25 and leave it like that. However, so far so good. Physical quality is above and beyond the plastic cables (Apple and ebay), connectors are metal, cable is braided and semi-stiff. Length is perfect for the center console. And no iPhone 5 complaining about cable not compatible. Which I can see when the connection to BMW Apps is now immediate and reliable for the duration of my drive -which was not the case before, quite a few USB drops. IMO, do not spend a single dime in Lightning cable copies. Either get this one or make sure that the Apple cable of your iPhone is in great condition. I agree Technic, it's a quality piece of kit, but should come a standard with the car IMHO, never understand why manufacturers think its acceptable for you to spend upwards of $50k on a car then charge you a few bucks for an accessory to make something they produced work. Boils my pixx it does (nothwithstanding that I did get mine for free from my dealer )
