Dynamic Drive(EDC +ARS) Retrofit?
Hello,
Im coming from a 2011 550I with the dynamic handling and just purchased a 2014 Bmw 535I M sport. I own both vehicles. I was so caught up on certain options that I didnt pay attention to the suspension Im considering removing the EDC suspension as well as the ARS from the 2011 and installing it on the 14. Physically changing the components doesn't seem crazy difficult. I think the biggest challenge is the wiring. I know its alot of work but the 535I disappointed me when I drove it last night. Has any body ever done it? |

My thoughts exactly
I agree with you. I have a 2008 750i with Dynamic drive. I purchased a 2011 535i and was very disappointed with the handling compared to the 750i.
I also thought about a retro-fit but its a mess. First your 535 uses electronic steering, no hydraulic pump, the Dynamic Drive needs one. Second you need the Dynamic Drive Control computer and all of the inputs it needs. This is major work and expensive. So what I did was purchase After Market Sway Bars, front and rear from Eibach, about $440.00. Installation is easy, 11/2 hours. Now the 535 handles great in the corners and is even a stiffer down the straight. I highly recommend this approach; the F10/535i desperately needs it. |

But I also thought the ARS required a hydraulic power steering system, until I looked at my friends 535i with ars. His car doesn't have a reservoir for the power steering pump. So his car is electric power steering also. |

Hydraulic pump
If you are talking about the Dynamic drive, i.e., active sway bars, it does need a hydraulic pump, pulley and different drive belt.
Go ahead and put the H&R bars on it, you will like it! It made a world of difference on my 535. |

Your m sport didn’t come with the m sport suspension? Ppl rave about that suspension here saying they think it’s better than the EDC/ARS on dynamic drive cars. Is it an xdrive?

I wanted to jump back into this thread.
I was so caught up with wanting the dynamic drive/ars/edc and realized its almost impossible to convert one. I went ahead and purchased the H&r front and rear sway bars. Absolutely no regrets. It handles better the with the dynamic drive. Oddly enough it makes the car feel, smaller? The car is much more nimble and you forgot the size of the f10 after the sway bars. The car should have come from the factory with thicker sway bars. |
