Anyone order a Rho-plate for their F10?
Just curious if anyone ordered a Rho-plate for their F10? They said they have the kit available for the F10 but just not on their site. I know that E92 owners used this kit but just wanted to know if anyone ordered it for their F10? Luckily I requested for the dealership not to drill the license plate bracket on my front bumper and prefer no front plates but with the fine increases for no front plate I think Id rather not risk having no front plate.
I really dont like how the plates on the side of the bumper for larger cars but I figure its either that or use double side tape like another member on this board. If you guys have any other creative ideas for front plates without drilling holes share your ideas!! |

Disapearing license plate holder
At one of our recent Porsche Club events I saw a kit for sale with a license plate holder that disapeared under the front bumper. If you are stopped by the law, push a button and up comes the front plate. I think Autowerks of America has them.

That side plate looks like crap. Altec plate worth considering, but seemed like too much effort for me...

LOL the altec looks cool, pop it on right when you get pulled over for no front plates. The cop will think he is losing his mind for seeing no plates before.

there's also a manual version that doesn't need to be connected electrically

I love the look and becuase of the double layer of tape, the plate sits off the bumper by a 16th of an inch. Through all the rain, snow, freezing conditions, and a once a week car wash (by hand of course!) it has held up great. Also if in the end you hate the concept, you can always take it off with some floss and or some form of mild solvent. (Usually the citris kind) |

you're more likely to get a parking ticket than to get sweated by the man. The only other thing I could think of was to get body color velcro tape and leave the plate in the trunk, attaching it only when I park, but knowing me I would probably forget half the time and especially at night.

So don't the police bother to enforce it? If I didn't have a front plate I would get stopped by the first cop and the car would be impounded.

If our cars were impounded for not having a front plate we would not be having this discussion We just get a "fix it" ticket or a small fine.

KRUZN335 - actually purchased one about 3 weeks or so ago... worked with the RHO folks and gave them measurements for our tow hook so they can get one made. I'm still waiting for my CA plates to arrive to test it out... I'll keep you posted.
Just by looking at the kit, I can tell you it looks very high quality and better than some of the other tow hook solutions... it has the convex axis so you can adjust the plate to match the curve of our bumpers... unlike some other kits where you actually have to bend the metal to get it to hug our bumper lines. I didnt like the idea of having the plate on the tow hook for the F10... I came across a post on the 3 series forums about a license plate kit sold at autozone... paid under 10 bucks and works like a charm!!
heres the kit just in case anyone else wants to give it a try http://www.autozone.com/autozone/acc...ntifier=761575 |

If its needed by law... then why are people bothering to hide the plate etc?
Seems a lot of grief for very little reward.

many of us dislike the look of the front plates on the bumper especially with the ugly plastic brackets bmw provides... to top it off, you have to drill holes through your bumper to install the brackets.... luckily i told the dealership to make sure they dont install the license plate bracket when my car came in!

I have one. Pics were taken of something else, but you can see the holder.
I hate front plates, but at least this kept holes from being drilled in my bumper.
