BMW 6NR Retrofit

When I picked up my car at the dealer yesterday the SA mentioned that he had heard rumours that BMW was coming out with a 6NR retrofit that would not require hardware upgrades! He had no other information but seemed sincere. I'd be interested in seeing what it is...if it turns out to be true.

Since 6NR requires 6NF Baseplate and adds an FBAS Video Line to the CIC, I don't see how this can be done without any additional hardware, unless they will offer some version of BMW Apps without Video Playback and iPod Plug-In Functionality. Even then, this would still need 6VC Combox, so without a Combox, this would have to be retrofitted.
