550i -> M5 conversion
Hi, I am new on this forum.
Let me introduce myself. I have built 1250 HP Supra. I was quite crazy to set polish speed record in year 2006. Here is a link: http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...35412566&hl=en So, I think I am a petrol head but my wife says that I am stupid Now I am in love with new BMW 550i which hopefully will come in next few months to my garage. Coming to the point, my plan is to build 800 – 900 HP engine and make M5 body conversion. I have already bought front bumper and right fender, need to get left fender and rear bumper - it seems the same with M Sport but different diffusor, right? My questions are: What parts do I need to order apart from bumpers and fenders? Which wheels are good quality but not too expensive for BMW? I have new set of tires rear 335/30/20, front 295/30/20. Is there a chance they would fit? What kind of exhaust is good choice? Any ideas are welcome. My new ride must be best in EU Cheers Peter |

Wouldnt it be cheaper to just buy an M5? Or do the taxes make it impossible? They have the same engine size so if taxes are on engine size then the tax should be the same. Over here the price difference is about $15 thousand.
You don't need a rear bumper, just a rear diffuser. Other than that I think you have the right parts. Will also need the fender vents for the fenders. And the wheels.

You also need the side mirrors they are different on the M5 and the grill.
Also, if you are very picky the brake calipers and discs are different as its the perforated discs in the M5. MBA |

Going 2x the power from stock to your proposed 800hp+ 550 will probably take more than tuning, changing turbos and you may have to swap engine as well to achieve that kind of pwer. Besides, the current stock tranny will be under heavy stressed to handle that kind of power, therefore, you really are looking at spending $50,000 US to put the gather all the parts together and probably 3 years or more to get what you wanted.
Buy a M5 and thus far I have heard it's up to 700hp+ by a few tuners already. Last edited by bobblehead; 08-13-2012 at 06:40 AM.. |

There's no F11 M5 yet. Touring or station wagon for our American friends.

The OP got a F11 550i and everyone tells him forget about it and get the M5 which is a four door and the M5 has not come out with a touring version.
I think the OP got the wagon because he like the wagon or he need the space of the wagon. Only the OP can answer this question though.

Now my ride is F11 but in the end of the year F10 will come
I plan to build new engine so I decided to go with 550i. But I am good in Supra. About BMW I know nothing. If you say it is better to order M5, maybe I can still change my order... |

With that much power even the M5 would require a lot of work if not the same upgrades...tans, turbos etc....
