Hi, my car keeps throwing a code p0141: Oxygen Sensor Heater Circuit Bank 1 Sensor 2. (2013 750Li). I am asking here because this group seems to understand the internals better than the 7 group.
But, what I don't understand is that the mil light is off and check control ok. There is no indication of an error except when I connect a reader to the obd port. Can anyone comment on why there is no indication of a problem; yet, the code keeps coming back after it's cleared. |

There are loads of codes that doesn't turn on the "MIL light". That's usually codes that doesn't affect the daily driving but is just stored in the DME/ECU so that the dealer can take a closer look at it when at service. It might be an intermittent problem or a problem that only occurs under certain conditions and doesn't necessitate an immediate remedy.
If you have a BMW OBD scanner it will tell you that there is a fault, what the fault is and whether the fault does or doesn't ignite the "MIL light". On a generic OBD reader you will only get the codes/faults and no explanation on whether it should or should not result in a MIL light situation. A fault that doesn't show up on the dash, is a fault that doesn't need immediate action but can wait until next service. Ie a fault that doesn't influence safety, environment and/or daily driving. |
