Well, based on Osram's own spec - product ref 66144. It's 4150K, max 3200 lumens

Thanks. I ordered a set of the CBI 5000k bulbs. Headlights are gonna look badass!

Like your feedback when installed. I have heard it will take about a bit of time (probably about 50+hrs or so) to burn in ... to get the fullest white.

Installed the puppies today... Love'em !!!! Day/Night difference in the output and color.

Question: Is it possible to screw up the height adjustment during the removal and install process? I pretty sure its the brighter bulb ... as i feel the cutoff is higher?

I think it's only your eye perception as your eyes see whiter color more crispy.

You checked the bulb stamped on the bottom says Osram with the mark of Made in Germany

Technically, CBI - since it's 5000k vs stock 4150K, the higher the temp, the lower the lumens .... that's why all car manufacturers select 4100 - 4300k as their stock bulb as it gives out the maximum lumination.

The Osram CBI bulb needs to boost the lumens back up to the stock 3200 lumens with their newer technology. Therefore, you now have the best of both worlds, much whiter color and maximum lumens .

Although it's a bit pricey, I thinik $ well spent.

^ I agree, I think it is my eyes and once they adjust in a few days it should be all good.

Just an FYI:
* The stock bulb that came out is Osram 66140 (Made In Germany) and has a brown return wire
* The CBI bulb from Matt@theretrofitsource is Osram 66140CBI (Made in Germany) with a blue return wire.
* I did not jack up the car, but turned the wheel one way to pull the screws out and then the other way to actually replace the bulb.
* Once you pull out the stock bulb, there is a black round locking plastic piece that needs to be carefully removed and moved over to the new bulb before placing it back in the headlight. You want to make sure you do not touch the glass of the bulb during this step.
* Rotating the bulb counter clock wise for removal *can* require some force but do so very carefully not to knock things out of alignment.

It took me about 30 minutes to do the whole procedure. Space is tight and people with big hands are gonna have a tough time getting the power cable attached back to the bulb.

Lastly, these CBI bulbs are worth the money, after ordering I was suffering with buyer's remorse ($175 is not exactly cheap) but once I put them in I was very happy I got these bulbs.

Even tho the bulb require some time to become milky white, I like the color they put out initially as well and way better than the stock.

So For Stock xexon match JUST BULB REPLACMENT Has anyone gotten

GP Thunder Plasma-White H8, 8500K/35W Quartz Glass Bulbs ?

My understanding is that the stock xexon is 4150? Correct?

I have been looking for a week or two now for just the bulb replacment for the FOG BULB(h8 non ///m) not the stock XEXON CBI Bulb

Also if you have done this before have you found a good place to buy the h8 and/or the corner bulb?

Thank You In Advance

I had the GP Thunder H8 before on my E60. Lasted about 9 months and the coating on the bulb started to peel off. Although the cost was about $25 + shipping. It was not worth the money. Besides, the 8500K is more of a purplish than whitish. Not really matching the headlight stock xenon light at all, but some will argue otherwise. My me is a disappointment of the outcome.

Here are couple of links for an online vendor that some bloggers over the e90post (3 series) have been buying from, prices are the typical MSRP and not discounted at all.

First and foremost thank you for the response.

My question was and has been this.

HAS ANYONE ON THIS FORUM CHANGED JUST THE FOG BULBS(not retrofitted) JUST BULBS?

If you answered yes to that question ... What company/website have you used/bought the bulbs that match you STOCK xexons colorwise the best?

Thank You again

I want to order them asap but couldn't find osram and if stock is 4150 it would seem 8500 is to different BUT if a forum member tells me "NO thy match fine" obviously I'm going to confidently order a pair. Do you guys understand where I'm coming from?

P.S. Same exact thing for the Cornering Lights

Yep! Just a simple changeover of halogen bulb for both the fog & cornering.

For cornering, you can go with GP Thunder as well with H7 type. That's if you like the look of the GP Thunder as illustrated. Do note the GP Thunder's coating will peel off after about 6-9 months of use and even if they don't peel off, expect life of abut 1 year to 1.5 year.

Here is a vendor sells GP Thunder

Just so I understand...
So in order for me to change the headlight bulb the car needs to be on a lift for EASIEST install?

Install is easy:

1- Jack up the car and turn wheel all the way to opposite side. ( You don't have to jack the car up, but it will definitely make it easier and save you from busting out hudini moves just to get in there)

2- Remove two screws to open the little door on fender lining.

3- Remove cover where the D1S bulb is located.

4- Make sure car is COMPLETELY off, no power going to headlights or anything.

5- Unplug the power plug connection located on the bottom of D1S bulb.

6- Twist bulb counter clockwise and remove.

7- Swap out D1S bulbs and re insert and re connect plug.

8- Put everything back together and repeat on steps on the other side.

9- Enjoy!!!
So basically there is an access panel to the headlight bulbs from inside each wheel well?
