F11 and its seats....What to go for??
Hello all.
My old E61 is going to a new owner and I now need a new touring. Right now I am looking at two demo cars from the local dealer, 2011 models with low milage. The price are neck to neck, so it comes down to equipment..And here I need some help, guiding. The first one, black with cream leather. These model have the panorama roof, head up, 4 zone climate control, heated steering wheel, sun blinds in the read door windows, large navi., xenon. But, it has the standard seats. So,, the next one. Sport seats, black and black leather. These one also got the large navi., heated steering wheel, sun blinds, xenon and 4 zone climate control. So, I like the panorama roof, but I do not need it....What I hope some can help me with is: How are the standard seats on long trips? It is hard to tell after a short test drive, busy looking and testing all the toys then anyway. The car will be used for long trips, guess 85% of the driving is done on long trips. So, to be in a good seat is important to me. Witch one to go for? Hope some can help me out here. Thanks for looking all.

Does either car have the adjustable lumbar support? If so, that's what I'd recommend.
I have the comfort seats in my F10 and, apart from the split/folding backrest, what I value most is being able to tweak the lumbar support in/out, up/down by small degrees. This is particularly beneficial in easing back fatigue on long journeys. |

I'd go for Sport seats option. Not only it is more comfortable but much better loooking as well.
Of course not as comfortable as Comfort seat but that's a different story

I have an F11 with the standard seats and have just returned from a ten day touring holiday in the car. All I can say about the seats is that I never actually gave them a moment's thought - which to me is a perfect indication that they are fine! More importantly, my wife, who unfortunately has a bad back, never complained or even mentioned her back once, which is extremely unusual in any car and a good indication that the F11's seats are fundamentally a good design.
I had the E61 before the F11 and to me those standard seats were not quite as comfortable as the F11's but the difference was small. The E39 I had before that had sports seats with extra thigh support which I did not find particularly comfortable at all, but I appreciate we are talking about different cars so not comparing apples with apples. As an aside my Audi A6 had terrible seats with poor lumbar support. Even though the lumbar support was electrically adjustable no position ever seemed to be right. |

Take the comfort seats! They are definitely worth it!
I just test drived all three seats on one day and the comfort seats are so much better then the standard ones and can be ajusted to give nearly the same support like the sport seats. |

Thanks all.
Well, I think wll go for the one with the sport seats. Yes, if they had one in my range with comfort seats, I wll take that one.....But, the sport seats are also good. All down to equipment and so. Also, guess one with sport seats or comfort seats are more easy to sell down the road.

It's an interesting question. Of me, one of the reasons to chose a BMW next time is the sports seats. I love that you can extend the base of the seat so much so that my long legs have support.

The base is extendable for the comfs also, plus the adjustable backrest width, which can turn them into regular sport seats increasing or decreasing lateral support.

Hmmm......Yes, I got the point.
Go for the comfort seats, and you get "two" seats, comfort and sport in the same deal. The sport seats feel good, holding me right in place. Had a new test drive today, a saloon, about 40 min. around, they feel good. So, I guess I will end up with sport seats. Also like the extending of the base is just great. Giving me good support.

I'd get the one with sports seats, no doubt.
