Hi everyone

Have a 535xi 2015

Will these tires size work with my combo

245 40 20 front
275 35 20 rear

Would it create a better ride or am I better of with the one reckless tyres

Interesting timing. I've just put on my oversized winter 245/50/18 tires onto my ACS-lowered 535xi. They rub the front fenders when I hit bumps. I'm not sure if this is caused by the oversized tire and lack of top clearance with the ACS springs or the aggressive offset making the oversized tire too flush with the fender (or maybe it's caused by both) but it raises a potential red flag to your question. My front wheels are 18" x 8" with effective ET of 26mm (ET 41 with 15mm spacer - it's a long story but last winter my winter wheels/tires without spacer started rubbing on the front suspension even before the car was lowered so I left on the spacer required for my summer front wheels when I switched to the winter wheels with an effective ET of 26).

That setup will fit fine on OEM 312 wheels.

I also use 245/50-18 as winter tires.

No rubbing with 8x18" ET30 OEM M Sport wheels.

Fair enough. For four winters, my 245/50/18 winter tires never rubbed at all. Only the lowering and now offset of 26mm (on 8" wide wheel) seems to cause rubbing. I'm not sure where it is rubbing, but it is definitely tire vice metal that is doing the rubbing. Are you lowered?

No, just M Sport suspension.

Thanks, since it's lowered would it cause any rubbing.. could it cause an issue with speed or odometer reading.. how about any possible issues on the differentials


Trying to go from
245/35/20 to 245/40/20 or 255/35/20- front
275/30/20 to 275/35/20 or 285/30/20 back


Would either be good or can it create an issues

285 is too much for the rear 9" wheel.

I recommend 245/40 and 275/35.

The speedo will be close to perfect with the taller tires since it is optimistic with OEM tires.

I disagree that 285 is "too much" tire for the rear on stock rims. What is your logic? Is there going to be rubbing? I highly doubt it. Is it a handling/safety issue? Eh no, that's not it either. But I agree if you don't want your speedo to be off to make sure you get the correct overall diameter of tire.

285/30-20 is not approved by the tire manufacturers to be used on 9" wide (narrow) wheels.

I'm sure it can actually be fitted, but it's not recommended and will bulge alot. Having too much bulge will influence handling since the tire may distort when cornering.

285/30- 20 has 10" wheel width as recommendation, 9.5" and 10.5" as alternatives.
