THE PERFECT WHEELS F10 550i HELP!!!
So I been going crazy mad reading to tons of threads trying to find the perfect info on which wheels to put on my ride. I still have about 5 weeks before it comes in and so I want to have my wheels ready for it. I want to put 21" on it but am having trouble understanding how it would fit or not because a lot of the people on these forums talk about changing coils. Must they be changed in order for them to fit? what happens if I dont? is there a gap or what? also I absolutely love the pic of rear tires on luigimaster24 528 (http://f10.5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=522960) has the M3 look. This is exactly what I want but I wanted to get the F07 21" 312 rims. problem is the tire specs are 245/35/21 and 275/30/21. Is it possible to go wider on those same rims, say 255/30/21 and 295/25/21 like on luigimaster24 ride? Please help! any advice? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, I'll try to give you a short answer. The aim here is to retain the same overall circumference for your new rims and tires as the OEM setup (within 3% tolerance). Otherwise, your speedo will be way off and you also risk brake failure. Here's a website calculator you can use to calculate tire/rim sizes and how changing tire/rim sizes will affect your circumference and speed.
http://www.1010tires.com/tiresizecal...?action=submit The calculator will also give you optimum rim widths as well. Another thing you will need to worry about is the offset of the rim and centre hub bore. I don't know but the F07 rim may not have the correct offset. Check using this website: http://felgenkatalog.auto-treff.com/ The stick F10 18" rims have an offset of 30mm. The staggered setup using 19" rims have a front offset of 33mm and rear of 44mm. If your offset is not correct, your wheels may rub on the inside or outside edge. Hope this helps a bit.... |

As a reference I have 20x8.5 and 20x9.5 wheels, and 32mm and 35mm offsets respectively.
To get my wheels flush with the fenders I'm putting a 13mm spacer on the front and a 5mm on the rear. As for the coils people are changing their suspension to reduce the gap from the top of the tire to the fender. So far there arent any springs available that reduce the gap enough to make the car look perfect with 20" or 21" wheels.

I am. But I'm going to use them as snow wheels for the winter and put snow tires on them and snow chain. I want 21" for summer.

2011 BMW F10 5 series with a set of 22” Modulare C15 3-piece concave wheels, with the optional deep concave rears. The wheels are 22x9.5 and 22x11, and are brushed with a chrome lip

WOW! thats just amazing right there. I have to ask, What wheel set up are you running? do you have any rubbing? did you lower the car. Again, AWESOME

We have done a number of 21s for F10 and they fit well. You are limited in the tires you can purchase which sucks but aside from that you would not have a problem.
We are actually finishing up a set for a customer this week and we'll be posting pictures as soon as next week. |

But I still think 21" is the way to go.

No rubbing at all. I believe just lowering springs on factory dampers if I am not mistaken. If you would like to inquire they are available 19-22 inches.

An example, ET40 and add 10mm spacer makes it ET30, so adding spacers will get you alower offset.

hmmm so if the OEM 20" wheel style 312 for F10 are -front: 8.5" et33 -rear: 9" et44 and the ones I want which are OEM for F01/F07 21" wheel style 312 are -front: 8.5 et25 -rear: 10" et41 would i need spacers? or would I already be flushed or over exposed because of the difference in width/offset? thanx for your input.

Rear Wheels - A 10" wheel can fit back there its just the offset will determine if the wheel sits too far inside, just right or outside the fender. My guess that they may sit too far inside and not clear the suspension or just doesnt sit flush with the fender enough to your liking but clears the suspension. |
