I have the same issue with the DRLs on my car in Spain - I only have the Halogens. It seems that BMW have fixed this for the new 1 and 3 series, as I have seen a lot of them here, driving with just the Corona rings lit, no dipped beam or rear lights on. Pity they can't do the same for the 5 series ...

The DRL lights behaviour on F10 can be coded.
If you have halogens and only want your 'Angel Eyes' to turn on when DRL is checked; it is possible. You can code your car and choose from various options: a) Angel Only b) Angel with Rear c) Angel with Halogen (which most people have) d) etc.. A similar set is also available with Xenons. I have recently programmed both in 2 different cars. My own car is Xenon and I changed some of the behaviour. The other car was halogen and he had Angels+Low Beam and we converted this to Angels only. So, in a nutshell; definitely possible via coding using E-Sys.

The parameters are in FRM CAFD module/ 3050 - The parameter is DRL_MODUS and possible values are nicht_aktiv / drl_h / drl_l / drl_s / tfl_s / tfl_ece / tfl_s / drl_s_ohne_sl / tfl_s_ohne_sl I presume you are familiar with coding...

Hope it's OK to ask in this existing thread, because something has been bugging me about some F10's I see here in the US.
Most of them have the LED DRL. However, I have seen a few, that appear to have halogen DRL on the inner headlight. Why is this? I can't tell if the car has the standard LED DRL, because it is usually driving when I see it. It always stands out to me, because I either expect to see Xenons + dimmed LED DRL, or just the LED DRL corona rings lit up. |

are you able to code them to make the halos brighter? Someone has already done it as mentioned in this post http://f10.5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=708039

reduce main beam as DRL's is one of teh options.
I was recently in Laos and saw a F10 there with that option set, didn't look great. If you look at the F10 cheat sheet (goole it from these forums) you'll see tehre are lots of options as mentioned earlier on thsi thread there are 8 options for DRLs so pasting form that doc they are 0: DRL disabled; 1: DRL_H via beam, halogen U.S. (without lights); 2: DRL_L via low beam; 3: DRL_S via separate TFLeuchte; U.S. Xenon (rings + bottom); 4: TFL_S via separate TFLeuchte; ECE Xenon (rings + bottom); 5: TFL_ECE (North Country Comfort); 6: DRL_S_ohne_SL via separate TFLeuchte without taillight / tail lights, U.S.; 7: TFL_S_ohne_SL via separate TFLeuchte without tail light / rear light, ECE So I imagine the one you saw must have been option 1 I would assume. |

If you are ever around the Hampshire area (Basingstoke, Winchester) give me a shout and I will do it for you. Alternatively, try and find a coding expert near your area. If you still want to try and code it yourself, then try reading this link and see if you are game. http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=631884

I don't believe the dealers have this software at all. I believe its only used at the factory and presumably specialists within BMW. My local dealer has not even heard of the software. You'll need to obtain the software and get (or malke) a cable. I did this and after following the guides found online, did some very basic coding.

I was nervouse the first (and only to date) time I coded but as long as you follow the instructions carefully, its fine.Mine worked first time without any issues. (I coded the stop start to be last setting whifh is about the easiest change you can make, its just one single change)
There are others on this forum far more experienced than me but its not too bad. You'll obviosuly also need a laptop with I think from memory around 45Gb of free space . Its quite a large amount of code and data. |

I have read many forums talking about this, but the values are already set to 100% - so they cannot be made brighter. The coding does exist... but maybe it is for older or other variants where the value is not set to 100%.
