Ok, this is bad, is my base option missing?? (Canadians please...)
All Canadian 5-series models are to include "Cruise control with brake function" which I imagine require two extra buttons on the cruise control module (left side of the steering wheel), page 100 in the manual. Mine does not have it despite all assurances of the sales guys and the Canadian online configurator. Does yours have it??? Help... I am only now checking everything out and this is so far MIA. That would be a shocker, I was so desperately wanting this "standard option". Please tell me what's wrong guys...

The 2 extra buttons on the left side of the steering wheel is the Cruise Control with Stop and Go function (5DF) if im not mistaken.
From just looking at the Canadian configurator I only see it on the 550 model. |

You dont need two extra buttons. You just press that cruise-button downwards when you want to brake (and upwards when you want to accelerate).

No, you are looking at "Active Cruise control" that has the extra buttons which is a optional extra, not the standard "Cruise control with brake function"
So your car is correct Active cruise control has a radar based system to keep a specific distance from the car infront of you. This is a optional system. The standard cruise control with brake function can use the brakes to slow the car down if it wants to go above the set speed, such as when going down hill or will activate the brakes to slow the car down if you select a slower cruise speed.

What is cruise with brake function?? UPDATE: ok you've just answered it. I am majorly disappointed.... Wonder if the sales guy misled me purposely as this option seems like no big deal at all... I was asking him for active cruise control thinking that's what it was.

Thanks guys. I the retrospect, it wouldn't have been able for me to get it anyway as Canadian packages are extremely inflexible. And I still would have bought it as is. Just a nasty surprise I guess...

My 535 doesn't have it, as others said it is an option.
For the misleading, you are not alone. I can say it happened to me too, only they mislead me into believing the car has: 1. the backup camera (I have the button near the iDrive but no camera) and 2. the damping control.

when you push the button with a little force it actually brakes pretty hard. I use it alot when im in "sleep mode". I just use my left thumb as gas and brake pedal :-)
