Tip: If you code the temperatures to show on the TPMS page (on new cars), then if you change wheels the system will not re-initialise. You have to change it back (pressure only), reset the TPMS and drive a bit, and then code back the temperatures.
Also, before you code the HU-NBT, save your profile onto the USB stick. The coding seems to reset everything, but a quick restore from the USB gets you back to where you were. |

You probably need to download the files again. Possibly got corrupted during the download.

Been doing a lot of reading, there is a lot of information out there, i have ordered my cable, and slowly starting to piece this all together. I have a spare laptop lying around, so rebuilding that to be used for just programming the car and nothing else. |

If I can have access to your car, I can read a file from your car and then create a Map code for you - no problem at all. I do not charge anything for coding or such things...

Thanks gspannu, don't know how busy you are, but the next few weeks for me are crazy (kids birthday, christenings etc), and then i'm away and not back till the 20th April.
I don't have my cable yet so cant even do it remotely at the moment. But will definitely fix a date, when you are free. I have been reading that some people have not needed to put in codes, as the car was fairly new, and allowed the next update. So I was wondering, if I did this, and it didn't ask for the code, then great, however if it did, would my NAV not work until I got this code, or would it revert to the previous? |

I updated my maps within 6 months or so of the car being purchased new and had to use a code, there is no problem trying without a code at hand, you can just cancel, the update won't begin without the code (if required).

The car's SatNav and other FSC codes are actually enabled by the dealer before he gives you the car - the options are deactivated at manufacture. When the dealer logs in with his portal to finalise the car, BMW backend software decides what codes to issue. I think BMW takes the call that if the maps were released during the timeframe the car was manufactured and the customer actually taking delivery, then the customer is entitled to have the next map code free. Caveat: The above is not a verified statement, just some learning over the past few years by taking to dealership mechanics and some IT guys at BMW.

Good luck. Just make sure you back up everything before FDL coding anything...

Started before I read this. Managed to code 2 things. I have enabled toggle for DRLs (neighbours looking through window at night) and also memory for start stop function. I tried indicators in hud, but that gave me errors, so put that back. Ill go back it up now!! see what else I can manage. Thanks for your help. |

On a separate note, the software version in cars manufactured (or updated since last few months) is quite difficult to code. The CAFD files are trimmed, and so these are difficult to code. VO Coding (e.g. enabling Enhanced Bluetooth) is still possible but modifying individual values in the CAFD is now problematic - keep this in mind. You may want to buy feature(s) upfront rather than be disappointed later that some cannot be enabled via coding.. BMW is trying to put a stop to this coding game - I am not saying that they are succeeding, but they sure are making it extremely difficult nowadays.

Coding Gurus!
I've just started my foray into the world of BMW Coding and I'm a little confused. I'm trying to enable the text messaging functionality which correct me if I'm wrong is via EBT? I've followed the fab guide on the 3 series UK forum and all of the posts etc. I couldn't find 6NH, 6NK, 6NL, 6NS. I have coded FDL Code HU_NBT => MACRO_PIM = aktiv as Shawn suggested in one of the posts. I've removed and re-paired the phone but no luck... any ideas ? The spec of the car is : Sept 2014 Build with the following options. 1CA,1CB,1CC,1CD,230,255,258,2K1,2PA,2TE,2VB,302,42 3,428,431,441,465,488,494,4AT,4U2,4UR,502,508,5A1, 609,654,688,698,6AC,6AE,6AK,6AM,6AN,6AP,6WA,761,81 2,850,853,877,880,8KA,8S2,8S3,8SM,8TF,8TG,9AA
