With the 6th generation BMW developed the most successful 5 series to date. From the beginning until its end this 5 Series won most benchmark group tests and also numerous awards.

Sporty and elegant design, powerful efficient engines, outstanding driving dynamics and impressive driver assistant systems made this 5 series the clear leader of the segment.

Take a look behind the scenes of the development of the most successful BMW 5 Series. This film is the final part of a six part series about the BMW 5 series:

F10 definitely cleaned up the design. The E60 was very controversial where as the F10 was undeniably good looking. The 5 series has always been very consistent generation after generation. Sad to see the F10 go but the G30 looks very promising as its replacement.

This was a very nice car and was very desirable. I think the G30 will be even more successful

Really the most elegant design, but sort of more luxury then sport, and everyone complained about the steering. Will see what the g30 brings.

I think BMW is putting the focus back on sport. There are many other brands that do luxury extremely well if not better (Benz, Audi, Jag). None do sport quite as well across the entire model lineup.

I've owned an E34 Touring w/S50 swap, an E39 540i M-Sport and currently an F10 550i M-Sport and I have to say the F10 is amazing but the E39 is classic BMW. The E60 was a huge miss IMO which is why I skipped it, I even passed on the E60 M5.

Great post...thanks!
