TPMS

Just fitted the non-TPMS winter wheel/tyre set I had from my previous F12 to my new 2016 640i and, as anticipated due to no transducers in the old wheels, I have a TPMS fault showing on the screen every time I start the car. No problem with that as I just press 'OK' and return to the nav page. However, the amber tyre symbol above the tach remains lit and, whilst it's something I can live with for the winter, I'd like to get rid of it if possible.
Does anyone know if there's a way to permanently delete the fault?

Yup.... Install TPMS sensors...

I know, smart-alec answer but that's the only way I've found to disable the warning.

I'll be doing less than 1k miles over the winter so I'll cover it with a bit of tape and spend the money on a few bottles of Scotland's finest to keep me warm while the car's in the garage .

I have exactly the same issue as you but I decided to get some new TPMS direct from Germany £200 for my winter wheels setup for my 2015 F11. I could not live with the error message in the iDrive and also it is now UK legislation that all 2014 cars have to be fitted with TPMS................ might affect your insurance if you need to claim it could be classed as a modification.

That throws an entirely different light on the subject; I didn't know about the legal requirement and never considered the insurance angle - thanks very much for pointing it out. I'll now definitely have to fit sensors, please can you tell me where you got them from? Thanks.

Don’t take that as gospel about the insurance only my opinion. I ordered mine from Germany off Ebay last Friday still waiting for the delivery. My first task was to go to the local BMW dealer and get a price and more importantly correct part number (mine are 36106874830), there price was £334.03 inc VAT.
I then used the part number to search Ebay and got them for £202 delivered:

I have negotiated a fitting price with my local BMW dealer for £80 including balancing, which once the valves are fitted the wheels will need balanced again. I looked at doing it myself but first the tyre bead would have to be broken to get access and a special tool was needed to torque the valves to 4NM. I figured it’s a one off payment for the TPMS and fitting, I hope this helps.

If it's a legal requirement I think you're right and I'm really glad you mentioned it.
There's a guy over on the F30 forum who I've been talking with and he sent me a very detailed set of coding instructions to revert the car to the older APS sensor based warning system. By a very happy coincidence he lives very near me and has offered to do the job for me - what a lot of helpful folk you find on this forum!
Thanks for all the info, very handy to have as a back-up.
