F11 Touring Preview

I attended the F11 5-series Touring preview event in Gothenburg, Sweden this afternoon. I was in a bit of hurry between work and pick up at daycare, but I managed to take a few pics.

Four cars, two 520d's and two 530d's were present. Just like the F10, the cars looks even better in real life compared to the photos I've seen before. The car looks quite low and sporty from behind. A truly beatiful car.

Some nice features:

- The back rests can be folded from the trunk by lifting a lever.

- Additional storage with the optional 12 degree adjustable back rests.

- Rear window opens with a push on the remote control button.

- Cargo cover lifts up automatically and retracts when the rear window or tailgate is closed.

- Seating position in the back seat is better than the E61.

- Way more storage in the side compartments in the back, compared to the E61.

No test driving at this event unfortunately. We will have to wait until the official premiere on September 18.

Stunning cars. The F11 is literally one of my favorite BMWs currently. The new 5-series design just works so well in wagon form, especially the rear.

Thanks for the photos.

Do you have a picture of the car that the lady and guy is standing in front of posted in the first picture? It looks like it is Dark Graphite 550i.

No if you look at the exhaust tips carefully, you'll notice it has the dual exhausts beside each other, so a 520d or 530d.

Ok, I really just wanted to see the wheel combination with the dark exterior color as well as the dark exterior with the Cinnamon Brown leather it appears to be. The Titanium Silver 530d beside it looks insane with the wheels that are on it. All I continue to see is pictures of with the that are on the DGM car above which are equivalent to the 535i in the US. I am dying to see "good" pics (as you've posted) of a Black or DGM with the wheels that are on the 550 as is so on the 530 Titanium you posted.

Unfotunately there were to many people around that car to get som pictures when I tried. The car is a 530d Dark Graphite with Cinnamon interior.

Thanks for the pictures, gorban. My dealer in the U.K is supposed to call me for the F11 preview event but I've not heard anything yet. Has anybody in the U.K been to a preview event yet?

I'm torn between ordering the F10 or F11. The F11 makes sense to me from a practicality viewpoint but I'm used to saloons. However, the pictures I've seen of the F11 are encouraging me to make the switch.

Good to hear the F11 looks better in the metal. It already looks great in the pictures!

if you don't need the space ofa f11, then go for a f10. it is a bit nicer when it comes to handling (due to the additional weight on the rear) and on top, it is not as loud when you carry things around at teh back of your car... i have owned both with the e60/e61 and till i really have to, i will drive a sedan

Those are the nicest looking F11 I've seen so far.

Looks so much better with shadowline than chrome.

Those are beautiful.

Explain why BMW decided to bring the GT to the US instead? Is the GT actually selling better than E60 5-series touring did?

Unit Sales of 5er Gran Turismo in the North American market since launch late last year till current period. Are greater than two years COMBINED of North American E61 5er Touring sales.

Which is logic as the 5GT is a new model which creates some buzz and customers were probably waiting for it or the F11 rather than buing the outgoing E61.
